1.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable deficient design, particularly unforgivable for a design reference book.

I am an architect and am greatly disappointed by the American Institute of Architects and John Wiley and Sons for publishing such a lousily designed book. The text and illustrations are often buried in the binding gutter. Someone should have gone back to the drawing board before issuing this atrocity. I have yet reviewed the book for deficiencies cited by other reviewers. But I have not doubt that they exist. One should never issue an alpha version as the final version for anything from a book to a set of drawings for a building.
I received the book on 10/21/18 and called John Wiley and Sons on 10/22/18 and left a message for someone to call me to determine if I had received a factory second copy of the book. I did not hear from Wiley until 10/28/18 and was told that someone would follow-up on my concern by telephone or email. I have yet to hear from Wiley. I guess I never will. The company used to be known for high quality publications. Now I would not buy a comic book from them. I will keep the book because it is the only one of its kind that I know of, but shame on the A.I.A. and Wiley.

This review is mostly about the shipping used for the book. If I'm spending more than $100 for a new book, I want it to arrive looking new instead of looking like the postman used it as a frisbee a few times. As far as quality and content is concerned there are some instances of leaders not pointing to the correct object within details and the attrocious page gutter or lack thereof where the content bleeds into the center of the book. I will update once the seller figures out what to do with the damaged book.
