Product description
Review
βA powerfully inspiring and practical guide to being a better leader. As a benefactor of Kennethβs leadership and mentorship, I have seen first-hand how he leads and motivates high-performing organisations that operate with purpose. This book encapsulates everything he has taught me over the years. I only wish he had written it earlier!β β Benjamin Boh, McDonaldβs Managing Director, Singapore
βAs a role model for Asian leaders, Kenneth broke the glass ceiling of MNCs by stepping out of his comfort zone and staying laser-focused on strategies. This book is essentially a bible for Asian leaders to thrive, powered by Kennethβs all-encompassing management insight.β β Randy Lai, McDonaldβs CEO, Hong Kong
βI have known Kenneth to be an empathetic, visionary leader over the many years of coaching and mentoring me. He has always challenged me to adopt a bigger and bolder vision for the business and the organisation. The leadership blindspots and practices discussed in Asians in Charge have benefited my team and helped me lead with more confidence. I hope the book offers you as many βA-haβ moments as it has me.β β Sylvia Tao, McDonaldβs Managing Director, Taiwan
βAn authentic and comprehensive look at successfully adopting an impactful leadership style, offering practical real-life learnings from a hands-on CEO. Kennethβs leadership legacy reflects his philosophy of driving business with purpose; his best bets will be a great guide for all who aspire to make it big in corporate Asia.β β Smita Jatia, McDonaldβs Managing Director, India
βI can absolutely relate to the authenticity and practical tips shared in Asians in Charge because these learnings originate from Kennethβs personal success story, as well as my own personal journey to become an Asian in charge of a multinational business. Asians in Charge will provide inspiration and motivation for Asian and global leaders, and allow global companies to have better empathy and understanding of Asian talent as they expand in the region.β β Azmir Jaafar, McDonaldβs Managing Director & Operating Partner, Malaysia

Intelligent, insightful and inspirational in instructing how to be a global leader (who is Asian)!
Reviewed in Singapore πΈπ¬ on 29 August 2022
The book is inspirational, insightful and instructional. The author draws upon his vast leadership experiences to highlight the pitfalls that Asian leaders can fall into, but more importantly, Chan suggests strategies not only to mitigate these but how Asian leaders can thrive on the global leadership stage.
Chan does not discount inherent Asian traits, but shows how Asians can identify weaker traits and overcome them while using strong inherent Asian traits to its best advantage. While Chan's experience is primarily in the business sphere, the lessons in this book can be applied to personal leadership and leadership in various organisational settings.
The book is organised well, energetic in pace, easy to read and digest.
Talking about energy and intent, at the end of the book, the author strongly urges us to apply these tips to experience positive transformation as an Asian leader!
I'd also add it's a good read for non-Asian leaders to get a glimpse of how the Asian mind operates. I'd love to see another book by the author on Western leaders operating in the Asian context. How about "Charging into Asia" as a follow up to "Asians in Charge", Mr Chan?
