Product description
Review
Delivers all the fun of a spy thriller. The reveals are well plotted and the characters have developed (and often clashing) personalities. Solutions for world problems are also realistically approached, as taking down one baddie leaves a lot unresolved and a lot to ponder about the way crises like terrorism are approached worldwide. Readers looking for some heart-pumping action and vigilante justice will find it here aplenty.
--Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books
"An inclusive cast, ample action, and escalating stakes. Jessie's conflicted attraction rings true, and a gratifying conclusion hints at emotional complexities to come."--Publishers Weekly
"Riveting, with thrillingly representative female empowerment."--Kirkus Reviews
“Finally! The female version of James Bond we've been waiting for! Only better--this team of black-ops spies exclusively kick ass and take the names of those who prey on women and girls: warlords and human traffickers. With a diverse cast of heroes and villains, a global scope, and just a hint of romance, it makes taking down the patriarchy fun.”--Natalie C. Anderson, author of City of Saints and Thieves
“Imagine if Mission: Impossible were run by young, brilliant, ultra-skilled female operatives who undertook rogue operations to save the women and girls of the world from kidnappers and traffickers. Shamim Sarif has written a ferocious, take-no-prisoners thriller that actually thrills, with a deep heart and characters you'll adore. What a wonderful and exciting new voice in YA. More please!”--Patrick Ness, New York Times bestselling author of The Rest of Us Just Live Here and A Monster Calls
"Led by and centered on women, this high-octane thriller features a well-developed cast with distinct, varied backgrounds. An explosively exciting story that shines a light on the treatment, mistreatment, and unity of women across the globe."--ALA Booklist
"Lots of edge-of-your-seat moments. A perfectly paced plot and girls with brains and Mission Impossible-style moves make this a highly engaging thriller. A breathlessly cinematic series opener."--School Library Journal

Was on the edge of my seat at every twist and turn in the plot. Another great book from Shamim. Bought the audio book and the hardcover. Bought a copy for my mom and will be gifting to my niece. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.

@shamimsarif, on twitter, is a beautifully talented award winning writer who has published three award winning novels - The World Unseen, I Can't Think Straight and Despite The Fallen Snow all of which she also directed and produced as award winning feature films. The Athena Protocol may be listed as a YA novel, but I'm here to say that this well crafted, all female, smart and skillful page turner is a compelling novel for age variety. Sarif's female characters individually and intensely capture your emotions with their diversity, intelligence, expert skillsets and most importantly their united dedication as agents of justice to take down those global villains that seem to escape the legal systems of policing and enforcement.
Get this all female smart and sassy novel. It's a page turner and the energy will keep you turning pages! At one point, I slowed down because I didn't want it to end ... that's how good it is!!

I have read all of Shamim Sarif's books & was really looking forward to this one. It did not disappoint. I loved the subject matter & all of the characters. I look forward to the next of this series & am hopeful, as with all of her other books, this will be made into a movie, or perhaps a series.

I've loved all of Shamim Sarif's books and this is no different. It says it's written for teens but it is a great read for adults too. She has a way of creating a story & world that I can easily envision and leaves me wanting more. I just read that there's a sequel coming. Can't wait!!!
