I do not recommend this product. I did a lot of research on organic and natural shampoos and this one went on sale so I decided to try it even though I knew there were mixed reviews. Some people have used this product for a long time but recently said its not the same and has been watered down. I think that is the case because my shampoo had a very watery consistency. My main complaint is that I could not get it through my hair. I have fine hair, but A LOT of it. I even sectioned my hair off into three parts to be able to get to the roots better. After a few uses my hair was an oily nasty mess. After I washed my hair it would dry and look super greasy even on the ends! Overall, if you are looking for a more natural shampoo, please look elsewhere and save some money and time! Also, it is good to note this is a non-returnable purchase.

I love the real Avalon peppermint shampoo because it’s one of the few products I can use without scalp irritation. I appreciate that whatever came in this bottle smells a little bit like peppermint but from the color and consistency and my experience with its use, there is no way this is the original product. I broke out in hives and my scalp had sores. Probably the reason for the fake has something to do with the fact that the real peppermint shampoo started to disappear from the shelves in November 2018. I’m just hoping that the Twitter rumor that Avalon was bought out by some conglomerate and will be discontinued is false.

I've tried other Avalon Organics shampoos and never had a problem with them. This one seemed watered down, runny, and didn't produce any lather. I recommend buying this product anywhere other than Amazon.

Great for removing hard water buildup

I bought this because I have really hard water and have been struggling to find a shampoo that will remove the buildup without making my hair dry as straw, so far this is doing the job! Scent is light and pleasant, not overpowering and does not linger. Lathers well and rinses clean. I use it every 2-3 times I shampoo. I suspect if you were to use it everytime you shampoo it may be too drying, but I think that is the case with most clarifying shampoos. If you have hard water or are struggling with shampoo or product buildup and want a natural option, I definitely recommend this shampoo!

I've used this for several years, but the last bottle was different. The consistency is much more gelatinous than in the past and it takes twice as much to get a good lather. Scent is the same, but I think they added gelatin or something to save money. Price didn't go down, of course.
