I have burned through five woks in the past decade, kept trying non-stick. What a waste. Of money, time, resources [environment]. This is a wonderful pan and now I do everything in it. It's truly nonstick. It's more nonstick than my environmentally friendly nonstick pans I got at Canadian Tire. I won't bother with nonstick ever again, except for the pot I heat milk in and my little T-Fal frying pan for crepes. I LOVE this wok. I have a new Frigidaire induction cooktop which heats very unevenly [repairs on Friday] and it still performs well.
I've been looking for a multi purpose wok for a while. One that was of the right size. I think this is it! Not ad heavy as an iron/ cast iron one and not too big either. You will have to care for it when it's new and season it making sure you polymerize the oil so that you get a good non stick surface. Occasionally food will get stuck but I know that I was to blame. A quick wash under hot water and a gentle scrub cleans off any stuck bits fairly easily. Care for it well, oil it occasionally and you will be happy with it. It definitely gets better with age like a fine wine
I have several BK pans and love them! I bought this wok as a gift to my daughter, but it arrived defective with one of the two bolts that connect the wok and the handle unattached. So disappointing! On top of that we have to go through the return process to get a replacement which is extra annoying during the pandemic. I wish the merchant would just send me a new one, but there is no way to let the merchant know but go through the return/replacement process.
After researching non stick, cast iron and carbon steel options, I chose this pre-seasoned cast iron wok. Before the first use, I washed it according to instructions with warm, soapy water. I was worried that the washing would cause food to stick - but not at all! I made a stir fry and it cooked well, without sticking. the wok is much lighter than cast iron, and I can use metal spatula! Glad that I chose this one over a wok with non stick surface (that requires limits on heat and can only use plastic spatulas), or cast iron that is so heavy.
It was not worth replacing to see if they could put the handle on better. Pretty poor quality for the price, overall. Also, when I put it in my cart, price was $20 less than when I checked out a day later. Watch it!!! Amazon said "they changed the price," but when I went to their page, it still showed the lesser price. Huh? Amazon could not explain this. But, as always, they made return easy. Thankfully. Hated this thing
I received this wok today, and it looks good and flat, but one side of the smaller handle is broken at the rivet, as in photo. It came in one big box together with another item, both items loose inside with a few plastic-pillows in the box, so maybe it got smashed? I see another review where the handle fell off, so I may return i. Also I paid $79 last week and today the posted price is $51. Geez, this is the second wok in a row (different brand) that arrived damaged from amazon.
No issues with item. No dents and bottom is flat. Only issue was wax coating. Followed the instructions and did egg test. Could taste the wax on eggs. Went to reviews and found GEORGE's review to remove wax. Followed that and it worked perfectly. Did another egg test and no more wax. This is heavier than I thought it would be but still a great pan.
Excellent for flat stove top. Works in induction to. Must clean and dry after each use. It’s carbon steel, which is great. It’s supposed to have blackish residue come off, that’s iron and it’s not toxic.
