Just taking a cursory view of the "Tune-up and routine maintenance" chapter I found inaccurate and misleading information. For example, they say that oil changes should not exceed 7500 miles. BMW uses a condition-based service that monitors the oil and tells you when it is time to change it.
Although there are some decent black-and-white pictures, they may or may not illustrate your model. If you own an old American car, the Haynes manuals are pretty good. However, late-model BMW owners should steer clear of this manual. Refer to the "Service and Warranty Information" guide by BMW for your year and model and get the Bentley manual for more detailed repair information. Then go to YouTube and watch some of the repair and maintenance videos.
I've been using these auto repair books as long as I've been driving (35+ years) and they've never let me down. I wasn't expecting to get one for my wife's "baby", but she just got an estimate for brake service and nearly had a heart attack. To her credit, she wants to do the work herself, so I bought the book for her, and will likely do some coaching.
There is so much misinformation in online forums, particularly torque and procedural differences, these manuals are very good for verifying what you find online.
These manuals have not changed much over the years, but the wiring diagram in this one is much more readable than the ones I have seen in the past.
