I have no idea who is leaving these great reviews but honestly the product is not good. I have been using these chargers for years, this brand is more expensive than most but they were always made in the USA so well worth it. Not anymore, the newest ones say made in China, and that alone is a huge problem. Tried this with several batteries and while it charges, very slowly it never enters float mode, so it's always charging - even when another charger will show it's full. After 24 hours and the battery overcharging already, we just disconnected it. Very poor product, clearly there is no longer any quality. Sorry you lost out on our business - all because of China.
The item description and images fail to indicate that this item DOES include the ring terminal harness for permanent attachment to your battery. No need to purchase the item linked here: Battery Tender 081-0069-6 Ring Terminal Harness with Black Fused 2-Pin Quick Disconnect Plug
Unfortunately I cant give this product more than 1 star. Reason being is that I have a vehicle that I park for 6 months out of the year so I thought it would be a good idea to get one . I should mention that I bought this product because the battery I had just purchased 2 weeks previous was a brand new interstate battery . So I hook up the leads and you should get a solid green indicator. problem is it wouldn't stop flashing green. So just to make sure it wasn't my brand new battery I hooked it up to my other car and same result so sadly this product does not measure up
I rely on a mix of battery tender jr and noco genius 750mah charger/maintainers. I like the battery tender jr because it is fully automatic and works for all sizes lead acid battery, just charges smaller batteries quicker AND it comes with eyelets and alligator clamps. the long cable is handy and extension cables are cheap compared to noco. noco supports more types of batteries, requires mode selection but both are great products in my opinion. The noco's have been climbing in price with gimmicky features that only work in non canadian climates so i have to maintain the noco's by turning them off when temps go below -20... so i moved my new noco's indoors to maintain my ups backup batteries. my old noco's and ol tender jr i have stay plugged in -55C to +48C and i've never had a problem. I like the new tender, the unit is lighter and thinner than the old one with a perky shade of green led. Highly recommended.
One failed on me after the 1st year, re-ordered another than failed after 2 months - the issue; the trickle charger's light won't turn on (the receptacle is confirmed to be working). I ordered one for my friend that also gave up.
Now Amazon won't even honor return on these items. Complete junk - do not recommend.
I'm using this Battery Tender Jr. to keep my NA Miata's battery topped up while it's stored for the winter. Installation takes only a few minutes, and the instructions that come with it give all the necessary information. That being said, it's pretty much the same as hooking up a battery booster, or jump starting a car, so anyone familiar with cars (the target demographic) won't need the instructions anyway. In my opinion, the best feature of the Battery Tender trickle chargers is that most of them have split cables with capped connectors in the middle, and the way they hook up to the battery and ground is with ring terminals, so you can effectively connect the battery side and leave it hooked up permanently, and just connect the two halves of the cable when the vehicle is stored. Remove your car's positive battery terminal, pull the tension bolt out of the clamp, add the BT Jr's positive cable's ring terminal to the clamp, put the bolt back through and reinstall. Connect the BT Jr's negative ring terminal to a good ground (an existing body ground in the engine bay, or in my case the trunk is ideal), plug the two halves of the cble to each other, and plug the brick into an outlet. Takes like 5 minutes, and when you are ready to take your vehicle out of storage, unplug the brick, unplug the two halves of the cable from each other, slide on the attached rubber caps, and you're ready to go. Being able to just leave it connected permanently is such a great feature for something like this meant specifically for summer vehicles or motorcycles. 100% recommended for ease of installation, good build quality, and very reasonable price.
I bought this in 2020 but never needed to use it. In April and July I needed to have my battery boosted by CAA. So I hooked it up and it took 48 hours for the light to turn green. I have ordered the https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0773BYS6P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to keep track of the battery’s status. Why don’t car manufacturers have a way of showing when your battery is running low?
