I purchased this to keep my U1 generator battery at proper voltage. It has been working great since I acquired it in March of 2018, I would definitely buy another; BTW I worked for a power generation company back in 2012, "Battery Tender" brand was promoted by all of my techs, as reliable. STATUS INDICATING LIGHT: If the light is not lit, then the battery is not properly connected and/or the charger is not plugged into AC power. The following describes light operation: RED LIGHT FLASHING – The RED light flashing indicates that the battery charger has AC power available and that the microprocessor is functioning properly. If the RED light continues to flash, then either the battery voltage is too low (less than 3 volts) or the output alligator clips or ring terminals are not connected correctly. The fuse in the output alligator clips or ring terminals may also be blown. RED LIGHT ON STEADY – Whenever the RED light is on steady, a battery is connected properly and the charger is charging the battery. The RED light will remain on until the charger completes the charging stage. GREEN LIGHT FLASHING –When the green light is flashing, the battery is greater than 80% charged and may be removed from the charger and used if necessary. Whenever possible, leave the battery on charge until the green light is solid. GREEN LIGHT ON STEADY –When the green light burns steady, the charge is complete and the battery can be returned to service if necessary. It can also stay
I have had Two of these on my RV for about 8 years. The one that maintains the two house batteries just stopped working. This is continuous heavy duty use so this gets a thumbs up and I will buy a replacement. Looking at Deltran website this devise is rated as IP-67. This means ----"Protected from immersion between 15 centimetres and 1 metre in depth" and "Protected from total dust ingress." So I would not put it in direct rain but otherwise it's resistant to moist outdoor environments.
There could be better designing... Why this doesn't have a plug on the end like the other cables they sell KNOWING it is going to be outside makes zero sense. The unit works as advertised. I don't drive enough, not far / long enough to keep my battery properly charged. If you don't drive 30 minutes every few trips you are killing your battery and you never give the alternator time to fully recover the battery charge you spent just from cracking the car. If you want to make you battery last and perform properly this is a must have if you are a short trip driver like me.
Small but mighty. Does the job of charging and maintaining batteries in vehicles that don't move often while using minimal energy. Unlike ordinary battery chargers, this device senses when the battery is charged and stops charging until it is needed again.
