Notes: My least favorite. Smell was off, and nothing stood out to be worth the cost.
However I developed a bad case of contact dermatitis from this product. I’m military so I’m used to having tough products put on my skin or being exposed to foreign substances in other countries (I.e Afghanistan, Middle East, parts of Africa). I’ve never broken out by any product or substance, and I’ve never been allergic to anything. However after using this soap I developed a really bad rash over my whole body. My hands dried up really bad and started cracking and had to use topical steroids to get rid of the rash.
I would caution people from buying this soap if you have a history of allergic reactions to chemicals or soaps. Again I have no family history of allergies and I have never been allergic to aby other substance yet. Something in this soap is damaging to the skin.
Some other reviewers have commented on how it doesn't last long. Since I began using this exclusively for daily showers, I've found that I go through 1 bar every ~3 months, but I also don't use a washcloth or shower pouf situation, which I imagine would waste a lot of soap. Just soap to body and then use hands to further lather and spread around- simple.
Edit: so I went back to using this soap because I can’t find anything close to its scent. I’ve learned to do a thorough hand-scrub with water after using the soap to prevent soap build-up. This reduced my skin irritability and still keeps the scent on my body. Changing review also to reflect new lower price. $15 is the max I’ll pay on a regular basis. Otherwise, this is a Christmas or birthday gift only.
After using it for the last few months, its well worth the cost to say the least!
I wanted to be sure about spending this much for one bar of soap so I stayed open and continued to do my research. In my search I also gave Marlowes exfoliating bar a shot ($8 per bar). The Marlowe's bar was the same size (7 ozs) as the Baxter, but it's exfoliation was much much more aggressive. So much so that you have to be careful not to shred your skin when applying.
The Thing that sold me on Baxter was that its exfoliation was more pleasant and the bar lathers up twice as much as its next closest competitor. The dirt and dead skin im removing now is just extraordinary. Did I mention one bar lasts three to four weeks! So for the money, quality and outcomes you cant beat Baxters.
