A dear friend, with terminal brain cancer, recommended this. He said it was given to him before he became unwell. His friend gave it to him as he wanted him to appreciate the small thing in life and bring him back down to earth. My friend said it made him re think his life. Then 3 years ago he was diagnosed with cancer. He said this book has helped him focus on the best things (and people) in his life and to embrace it with open arms. He said it has given him a positive attitude and hes sure that is why he is still with us. I have since given it as gifts to people who just need that little bit of encouragement.
My counselor recommended i read this. It’s ok very simple ideas but that doesn’t make it a bad read. As a man of logical thinking, it was difficult for me to accept a lot of the ideas Andrew presents as truth. If you’re seeking to understand depression/anxiety on a deeper level- there isn’t much in this book for you. Matthews does address those asking for scientific proof of laws of attraction, relaxation, and controlling anxiety. He says something along the lines of “well science is all made up! Any good scientist will tell you they don’t know if anything is truth. The more you learn the more you realize you dont know anything! So just think happy and remain happy”.
Do you or someone you know need to make a paradigm shift to improve quality of life? Simple, and to the point, this book gives real world examples and how-to advice. My husband and I have given close to a dozen copies of this book to employees and co-workers over the last 20 years. We have 4 copies on our bookshelf right now waiting for the next person in need and ready for change. My husband read it in his early 20's and gave it to me not long after we met. I still read it from time to time as a tune up.
This book is a gold mine. I have read it over and over and benefit in different ways each time. I have purchased the same book at least 6 times and loan it out to those interested in a bit of self help. It is very easy to read and sticks with you in simple ways. Andrew Matthews is great at getting the message across without making you feel bad or 'less than' for needing a little direction. Do yourself a huge favor!
I'm a Mental Health Counselor and I used this book with my clients. I re-ordered after one of my clients failed to return the book. I enjoy reading all three books in this series. They make a lot of sense and very easy and enjoyable to read. Unfortunately, when I bought the latest version, Amazon said it was delivered but I never received. I checked with my neighbors and they also denied receiving the book. What a disappointment!!! If you can order the book and actually get it -its worth it!
