The BenQ ScreenBar Lite works as advertised, it simply works, the LEDs are bright, non-glaring on the laptop screen and flicker-free, installation is easy and intuitive, a good product design , with high quality finishing to match.

My only complaint is that the ScreenBar is blocking the upper portion of the video camera of the laptop, I hope the next design release will improve on this, by lifting the bar away from the FOV of the camera.

First few weeks I loved this light. Changed my entire desk setup and the light was fantastic. However, for what ever reason, it no longer stays on. I've had this for about a month now and it won't stay on unless I unplug and plug it back in. Annoying. 1 star, it's too expensive for it to be messing up in the first month like this. If someone has some ideas on how to fix please let me know.

I had looked for a few weeks for a lamp that was well designed. They say to surround yourself with things that are beautiful and things that are useful. As a technology consultant and systems developer, I use a MacBook Pro and currently have a LG 32UD99-W 32" 4K monitor. Beautiful AND useful. This lamp is just beautiful and simple and a perfect compliment to my work space. I LOVE that it does not take up any desk space, takes power directly from my monitor (make sure your USB port delivers steady 5V power) and lights up the workspace between me and the monitor perfectly.

My 15" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar gets power via USB-C from the monitor, and provides data to the USB hub on the back of my monitor via the same USB-C cable so when I disconnect my Laptop from the monitor, the lamp automatically goes off. Beautiful, Useful, AND Smart :)

I am so thrilled with the function and design of this lamp that I have had many of my client purchase it and they have loved it too.

PS: If you are having problems with the switches not working, it's most likely that your USB ports are not providing adequate power to the lamp.

This thing is amazing! It fits perfectly on top of my 24 inch screen and is unobtrusive but the directional light it gives out over my workspace is worth every penny. The light does not spill onto the screen but only on your work space and your keyboard. I love the fact that it is so easy to change the color temperature as I like all my lighting to be of the "daylight type." You can also adjust the brightness and the direction of the lighting area to suit your needs. I have absolutely no complaints about it and I just wish something like this existed long ago when I first bought a computer If you find that you need lighting on your workspace, then just get this thing!

For the past few years, I've wondered how I could evenly distribute light across my small work space without adding a light fixture directly on my wall. Corner lights are not sufficient and brighten the whole room leaving my work space unfocused. Then I found BenQ screenlight after seeing a review for their eReader light which I might also purchase in the near future. After seeing all the positive reviews on youtube I went ahead and made the splurge.

I went for the BenQ with Dial version, set it up less than a minute, and it's absolutely perfect. Not only does it feel premium, the functionality is also premium -- the ambient light sensor is giving me a bright white light which resonates off my white desk without any glare. The Dial that comes with the "plus" version feels solid. There are 2 buttons on it, one for ambient light sensor, and another button to toggle between a) light brightness, b) light color, which both work with the knob for adjustments. Pressing down on the knob will turn the light on/off. I would imagine adjusting the light without the Dial as tedious, so I recommend spending the extra $30 for it. I didn't know the "plus" version does not have buttons on the top, its all from the dial.

Do I think it is expensive? Yes, and even now I feel a bit guilty. However, I can find the value in its premium build and functionality, and I know this is a purchase that will last a long, long time. There is absolutely nothing I can think of that this light can do better assuming you have the "Plus" version that comes with the light dial, which allows me to make fast adjustments without clicking the light itself (which some reviewers complained about). The BenQ Screenlight with Dial is one of those "buy for life" purchases, and knowing that LED bulbs last a long time these days, I can have peace of mind.

Highly recommended.

By the way, my workspace is a small IKEA micke desk, only 29 inches wide, with a 30" monitor and a 24" monitor on a monitor arm, on the side. With such a small space the light was a perfect solution. Please see photo.

25 Jan '18 - Received replacement and it works quite well. Think controls could be more responsive/intuitive (-1 star). Everything else is GREAT!

5 Jan ' 18 - Received my order and the item is beautiful! However, the one I received is a partial dud in that no button worked upon plugging into my most available USB port; light powered on and would stay on. I selected another USB port and now the power button would work intermittently and auto brightness NEVER disengaging...this is likely due to none of the buttons on the left side (manual brightness and color tone) being operable; photocell even seems dead as the auto brightness NEVER engaged brightness change through any of my tests. I attempted other USB power methods and even two other USB cable to help eliminate other problems. I have opted to return the item for a refund but have placed a backorder (temp out of stock at moment) as this is a great design and would be out of this world provided it works as advertised...will come back and update my rating & review once/if this happens.
