It’s weird. I don’t have a lot to say for this product because I don’t know all the papers on it, the percentages of bacteria present or the variances they use. Ones mouth is it’s own small inverted world, lol. The mouth heals fast, we all know this. Bacteria is present. It makes your breath smell. We have good and bad bacteria. The main focus is to keep the ‘scum’ from building on your teeth. It protects the bacteria and lets it sit more easily on your teeth.
I don’t know the long term results- good or bad
Now, what I do know from experience:
It does help some with bad breath issues throughout the day better than not using it.
Less tonsillitis issues, but you’d still want to clean your tongue and back of throat for those with that issue- be proactive
I SUGGEST not using it before bed after you brush your teeth. It’s a bacterial bomb, and may actually be too much of a good thing if you go to bed with it. I suggest using in the morning.
So overall, what I wrote amounts to not much, but I hope it helps.
I had a dental implant completed in 2015 which had been great. Then in the summer of 2019 the cap came off and was replaced but it never felt right after that. Not only did it feel too high, but the gum always felt sore and irritated. Adjustments were made several times by the dentist but it persisted in feeling irritated. Eight months later the cap came off again. SInce the pandemic was going on, and my dentist had to retire for disability reasons and was not really working, he put a covering over it and I decided to wait a bit before having the cap replaced. In the meantime, I saw a functional medicine doctor who prescribes my thyroid medicine and does overall bloodwork. There were indications of inflammation from the bloodwork and I mentioned about the implant so he suggested that I try Bio Gaia probiotic lozenges. I can't believe that the soreness is better; If I touched the outside of my jaw where the implant was, it was sore; Likewise if I touch the base of where the implant stem there is no more soreness. I would say that it could be just healing on its own but this had persisted from July of 2019 and even up until September of 2020. The improvement happened within 4 weeks from beginning using the lozenges. I highly doubt it was just healing on its own. I will definitely be using these on a regular basis. Great product!!!
A great measure to complement good oral hygiene to keep your gums in top shape, especially if you had gum disease. I was able to use half a tablet daily, roughly 30 min after brushing and flossing, before going to bed. Works almost as well as the full dose. A rare "wellness" product that actually works, as much as I can confirm without a full-blown placebo study (which I think has been also done for it).
My most recent dental exam showed improved pocket depths after using these lozenges for about 2 months. I also use LivFresh tooth paste so that also may be a contributing factor. I first used the mint flavor. Then switched to the sour apple for kids (too tart). Now back to the mint. I do not swallow these after they dissolve in my mouth and instead swish the juices around in my mouth and then spit out - reason: mint upsets my stomach and I don't want to swallow palm oil and sucralose. I got started with these lozenges after my perio dentist gave me a sample. Shrinking pocket depths is certainly incentive to keep using.
I have had bleeding gums for years and tried several things to help them. Though these taste good, they did not help with my gums and were a pretty expensive experiment! But they're one of the few oral probiotics that actually has clinical data. I was disappointed that this didn't work for me.
