Review
"Some garden books encourage readers to pick up the trowel and get down in the dirt... [Blooms is] fanciful, designed for gift giving and coffee-table perusing."―Vogue
"An international survey [with] blooms to bedazzle."―The New York Times Book Review Online
"An essential compendium for any lover of flowers or floristry."―House & Garden magazine
"Floristry is a field that is noticeably absent from most serious discussions about contemporary aesthetics... This book aims to change this, with work by over 70 designers from around the world who are working with flowers in exciting, unexpected ways."―Crafts magazine
"More than 70 contemporary floral designers are featured in this unprecedented compendium, which puts floral culture in its rightful place alongside leading world design and exhibits a sometimes under-addressed tradition."―The Wall Street Journal
"Be inspired by these designs from beautiful new book Blooms."―Condé Nast Brides
"A new book surveys the exciting, boundary-pushing floral designers you need to know right now."―Galerie Magazine Online
"A survey of the incredibly diverse floral movement that has emerged over the past couple of decades."―Telegraph

"Phaidon's new book Blooms surveys the work of more than 80 contemporary floral designers who are extending the boundaries of their art."―House & Garden
"A survey of the incredibly diverse floral movement that has emerged over the past couple of decades, often in cities including London, New York, Tokyo, Berlin, San Francisco and Sydney. It's a movement that generally celebrates the natural and the naturalistic over the artificial, and that promotes more sustainable approaches. In addition, it has prompted a rediscovery of the singular beauty of blooms that are grown by artisan growers who eschew pesti-cides and chemicals and other mass-growing techniques."―Daily Telegraph
"A coffee table tome meets encylcopeia highlighting 86 of today's leading international florists... For those of us without a king's ransom of gardens to help ourselves to, nor the vision to turn plucked stems into sublime centerpieces, consider Blooms the ultimate field guide."―AD Pro
"This gorgeous collection of work by more than 80 contemporary floral designers is perfect for garden enthusiasts - and will definitely last longer than that supermarket bouquet."―Bustle
"Imagine a Whitney biennial for the global flower world, a survey taking the pulse of the contemporary moment from the best and brightest stars wielding a pair of clippers... What's most exciting is the collective eclecticism and ambition on display. It's the sense that floral design has blown through the flower shop window and is being embraced as an art form all its own."―FLOWER magazine
"Fanciful and fun, it's a coffee table must and the perfect gift - because who doesn't love flowers in any form?"―Schumacher
"The new flower power... Blooms shows the scale and ambition of many recent [floral] designs."―The Wall Street Journal

Azuma Makoto, TokyoCan flowers be art? The work produced by Azuma Makoto since launching his Tokyo-based studio, ‘Jardins des Fleurs', in 2002, with botanical photographer Shiinoki Shunsuke, suggests they can. |
Debeaulieu, ParisParis cannot get enough of Pierre Banchereau, lauded endlessly in the press for his ‘modern classical twist’. Incorporating brash, bold, contemporary colours with striking and unexpected structure, Banchereau never jeopardizes taste. |
Jérémy Martin, SydneyAt the intersection of art and fashion, Jérémy Martin’s floral practice, Les Ephémères, emphasizes the fleeting rhythm of nature in a light-hearted, poetic vein. |
An essential compendium for any lover of flowers or floristry

Metaflora, New YorkMarissa Competello's graphically arranged materials – leaves reshaped with scissors, natural colours sprayed over in unearthly tints – are camera candy, which is only natural for someone who spent almost a decade in fashion styling. |
Raúl Àvila, New YorkAs museums host ever-more-elaborate fundraising events, floral displays have provided increasingly jaw-dropping centrepieces – nowhere more so than at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala in New York. Raúl Àvila has been responsible for the vast installations since 2007, when he took over as head of decor design for the annual gala at the Met. |
Wildfolk, MassachusettsWhen Caroline O’Donnell launched her Somerville, Massachusetts, studio in 2013 with no formal training, her aim was to share flowers as art. In her delicate, considered and exquisitely pretty arrangements she does just that, highlighting the intrinsic beauty of each stem or foraged find. |

Update - this would be a beautiful book, if it hadn't completely fallen apart after a single read through...Phaidon should be ashamed of the quality of binding here. It is an absolute disaster. Now I have hundreds of individual pages falling out of the cover pieces.
