Pretty sure this is Vaseline intensive care lotion
14 November 2018 -
Published on Amazon.comStyle Name: Coconut RescueVerified Purchase
I just finished a bottle of this I bought at target and loved. This cane with the pump already popped up which made me a little suspicious. It smells exactly like Vaseline intensive care and has the same slightly watery feeling unlike the true Alba formula, which is very thick amd moisturizing. I will remember not to buy any more beauty products from Amazon anymore because this is not the first time this has happened.

It's back?

I've loved this lotion (Maximum Dry Skin) for years. At first I loved it without reservation. Then, as many have pointed out, the formula changed. It still worked well in the sense of treating very dry skin, but it was waxier (both in texture and in smell), didn't rub in quite as well, and, most frustratingly, you could only get about 75% of the product out of the bottle. In 2014 I ordered 4 of the big 32 ounce sized bottles and one by one, I got about 75% finished and no more would pump out, like a too-thick milkshake. I even bought some of those bottle coupler things and the lotion sat upside down on top of another quarter-full bottle for weeks and STILL didn't move out of the bottle. Eventually I gave up and threw them away. I have used other lotions since then, but did purchase one of the smaller size when I was desperate. Again, waxy smell and feel, and 75% of the way through, I stopped being able to pump it.
Cut to yesterday, it was on sale at Whole Foods so I picked up another quart, expecting to again only get to use three quarters of it, but being ok with that since it really works the best for my dry winter skin. But when I went to put it on after my shower, I was surprised that the texture was much looser (in a good way), and it rubbed in much easier than my previous bottle. I have only used it once, but I believe that this one will pump out all the way. Only giving four stars because I'm annoyed at the continued reformulations, but I'm optimistic that the right stuff is back!
Photos showing: 1: new good bottle (left) vs old bad (this is how much product is left when I can no longer get any out), 2: batch codes for good (L) and bad (R) 3: was stabbing around with the straw trying to get some out and the holes just stay there. Made these more than 12 hours ago. So waxy. 4: textures (good L, bad R, way thicker, not in a good way)

Highly effective and a great value

One of the best lotions for dry skin. I've been a lifelong user of body lotion and have tried almost everything out there at all different price points ranging from drug store brands like Lubriderm, Eucerin etc to specialty shops like l'Occitane, Ahava, Crabtree & Evelyn, Bliss etc, and higher end like Aderma, Kiehls,, Shiseido etc.
I find the Very Emollient line of the Alba Botanica to be the best value for the best relief overall. Exfoliate when bathing, pat dry and lotion up immediately afterwards, this routine makes my skin feels smooth and quenched. Even during the Summer months, I still feel the need for a dollop of this. The ingredients listed also are given favorable ratings on EWG's skin deep database, so you can be assured of the safety of this product. This was important to me since I use it daily and skin, being the largest organ of the body, absorbs a lot of what is put on.
Highly recommend.

Be very, very careful with this lotion.

Be very, very careful with this lotion. I started using it at the beginning of the summer, and it is fine as far as moisturizer goes. However, this summer my skin has burned more frequently than ever--no matter what kind of sunblock I wore, or how frequently I put it on, or how little time I spent in the sun, I burned. Couldn't figure out why. I've gone through three different brands of sunblock, worn long sleeves and jeans, even curtailed my outdoor activities. It didn't occur to me that this lotion could be the cause of the problem until I happened to catch the "Sun Alert" on the back label (you can see it if you enlarge the label picture, which I didn't before buying it). Apparently it increases sensitivity to the sun for as much as a week after using it. Darned alpha-hydroxy acids. My own fault, I just think of body lotion as a pretty "safe" product to use--like shampoo or deodorant, I'm not eating it or smearing it on my eyeballs, so I usually feel pretty confident that I can get away without reading the safety warnings. Not so with this lotion. I shudder to think how much damage I have done to my skin in the few months that I've used it. No amount of softening can undo the UV damage, so the moisturizing aspect is a pretty poor tradeoff for the increased sun sensitivity.

False information on Amazon. Avobenzone is not listed as ...
3 May 2018 -
Published on Amazon.comVerified Purchase
False information on Amazon. Avobenzone is not listed as an active ingredient online but is the first active ingredient listed on the bottle. Avobenzone breaks down with sun exposure and causes free-radicals and has been linked to certain types of skin cancer. Would not have purchased if this was properly labeled online and now I can't return!
