I found the advice sound, but to have 200+ pages devoted to something that could have been boiled down to an article, or a couple of pages would have saved me time.
Again the advice is good, but I wish it was written in a more brief way

Truly insightful book!

I pre-ordered this book with very high expectations, fortunately Tiago meets them. I find his system to be helpful for people like me who are semi-structured. We want structure and are willing to put in the effort to build and organize digital lives in a structured way but just don't know how to turn our wants for structure into an actionable method with structure.
Only suggestion I'd make is to get to the point in the book much quicker. The book really starts in chapter 4 or 5. Before chapter 4's ending and chapter 5's beginning I felt like there was plenty of style but the substance was missing. Once chapter 4 started to close out and 5 started, then it really hit me that the book has real substance and insight.

A great guide to organising your digital life, reducing stress and ultimately have a happier life

Having seen many blogs and youtubers talking about personal informatuon management i decided to research into the feasibility of such systems helping me with my poor memory and recall issues.
I recently read Dr. Rangan Chatterjee's book Happy Mind, Happy Life and i have found the techniques the Tiago describes in his book that there is a lot of synergy in the two core concepts.
I will be definitely taking on board their guiding principles moving forward.

A few months ago, I discovered a new app for note-taking and watched some YouTube videos about it and note-taking in general. That's how I came across one of Tiago Forte's videos.
When I found out about his new book, I pre-ordered it and thought, "Let's give it a try." Even though I had ordered it, I was somehow expecting another "self-help" book where the author spreads the core idea over 200 pages when it could have been described in 2-5 pages. I WAS WRONG!
"Building a Second Brain" is well structured. It's not just about how to take and organise notes. It also focuses on how to use your notes to increase your creativity and achieve concrete results.
The book is also enjoyable to read because it is peppered with little stories about creative people (some famous), their note-taking and how they have increased their creativity and productivity.
Each chapter gives further insights and tips that can actually be implemented, even if you don't spend all your energy and concentration on immersing yourself in this new "religion", as is the case with so many other books.
The system Tiago proposes is independent of a specific note-taking app or a specific "zoo" of apps you use. It can work with virtually any app: Google Docs, Notion, Evernote, Obsidian, MS OneNote, and many more.
I am totally convinced and will give the whole system a try. But I really like the fact that you don't have to use the entire system to get value out of it. You can also just implement one or two concepts to improve your notes.
I like that the book is written in a humble tone. It is NOT one of these ridiculous books that shout: "Follow these three rules and you will become super human and insanely rich."
My biggest criticism is that the title "Building a Second Brain" sounds almost too lurid for the amount of very good, practical, down-to-earth and easy-to-implement tips it gives.
