This book was just "ok". It does describe what a dog's body language might mean, but in one chapter it says it means this, in another chapter it means that. Of course being human we can only TRY to interpret what something means, but I found this book a bit contradictory.
What I was looking for specifically, was a guide to on how to react to those signals in a positive way. This book only describes how another dog is reacting to those signals, (by showing you a blurry picture of 2 or 3 dogs interacting) whether it be good or bad reaction. It gave me no insight as to how to communicate better with my dog. Only what a dogs body movement may/may not mean.
If you just want to observe dogs, and guess what they might be thinking, this is the book for you.
If you want to learn a way to communicate with your dog better, look else where. I know I am.

Basic guidance in a bit of a blur

The information is great. It should be taught to every dog owner. This book misses the mark only due to the poor quality photos. The photo choices and content are applicable. The poor photo quality makes the message get lost in the blur. Color and glossy and smaller would have been the answer.

Very Helpful and What I Was Looking For

This is just what I was looking for - a way to understand dog body language and behavior. It's true some of the pictures are a bit unclear that other reviewers mentioned, and color would be nicer, but there are enough examples of each topic to see what the author is trying to show. They are still much better than reading words and trying to picture what you should be looking for. I have definitely been looking at my own dogs, and others we pass on the street, in a whole new way and feeling like I can work with them more effectively.

If you want to learn canine body language, buy this book!

I am more impressed by this educational book than I have ever been with any other. The author is obviously a subject matter expert, the book is well laid out and easy to follow, it's very easy to read and understand and the accompanying pictures, while not always the best quality, are OUTSTANDING for putting everything together. My copy is already dog (no pun intended) earred, highlighted and well used. I just bought three more copies to give as gifts to my three best "dog" friends. If you want to learn canine body language, buy this book!

The BEST behavior book out there!!

This book is amazing! I bought it to understand what my dogs are saying to me and it works! I now know my English Cream Retriever speaks fluent dog and my Newfador speaks another language! I am amazed at the accuracy of the pictures and descriptions. I waited a long time for this to be available electronically so I can take it with me when I travel. I recommend this book to anyone that owns a dog or knows a dog or may come across a dog in their life.
