In the midst of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, I've taken to leaving Change Within, Change the World on my kitchen table. Unlike most inspirational books meant to help the self, Dr. Jane Battenberg's book takes the next step, putting the newfound skills to work for the betterment of society! Having struggled with ADHD for most of my life, the initial step of defining the higher purpose has changed my approach to every facet of my life. Now everything from creating schedules to making commitments has to pass through that filter first. Though the tools are challenging to use in the beginning, I now find myself in the habit of stopping what I'm doing (in my self-created chaos) to pay attention to what truly matters and see things from other perspectives, making it easier to choose correctly the first time. Nothing is more important at this moment than the health of our world. Utilizing this book as a guide is helping my entire family make it through these unchartered waters.
This book will make you happy! You will be wonderfully informed about a wide variety of joyous actions that you can take to feel splendid, enhance your healing power, lift your psychological suffering, enrich your wisdom resources, and make your whole world kinder and more playful. Best of all, you’ll meet and come to know Dr. Jane Battenberg, one of the most alive, healthy, energized beings on earth, whose desire for you to feel fulfilled is deep, generous and genuine. This is a book to love, work with, and share. Especially now. Especially today. Peggy Rubin, author, To Be and How To Be.
5.0 out of 5 starsFocusing inner work on outer solutions
8 December 2018 - Published on Amazon.com
Very well researched and well written book that demands that the inner work of personal transformation be used to make a real difference in areas of climate change, social justice, and shifting policies that move the world forward. Dr. Battenberg draws the reader to a clear understanding of inner change technologies, and the immense possibilities of turning that technology outward, to address the challenges of our time.
I loved this book, which is profound and huge in its scope; and also light-hearted and playful in many sections, with pragmatic exercises to try in one's day-to-day life. It also feels super relevant, (because it sort of feels like the world is falling apart!) so it was empowering and encouraging to read about a perspective that puts our power to create change back in our own hands. Highly recommend.
