Brand new Rave Purple 2020 High Performance Rock Climbing Shoe. A great all around comfortable shoe that is precise enough for your next gym session. Features double stitch construction, padded collar and heel, polypropylene midsole and one-piece binding. Size up for a comfort fit and size down for a more aggressive performance fit but keep in mind that climbing shoes are supposed to fit very tight and at a minimum your toes should be touching the end of the shoe. Your toes will be curled a bit if you buy a size down for a more performance fit. The shoes come pre downsized! We recommend for new climbers to go up a FULL size from their street shoe size.

I am a women’s size 10 in a dress shoe because of my wide foot, but a 9 in sneakers and any boot. (Don’t know why, but that’s what it is.) For this climbing shoe, the 9.5 fit me perfectly. I don’t like it ultra tight because I’m not bouldering; it doesn’t need to be as tight. My toe touches the front of the shoe comfortably and they’re snug enough for climbing. There’s a little space under my heel but I find this a lot when I have to purchase men’s sizes, there seems to be no getting around it. And because of this the back of the shoe is pretty tall but made cushy so they’re very comfortable. My 5.10 MoccAsyms were the same exact fit and also had the high back but their back was so stiff that I was getting blisters by the end of the day.
If you have a foot like mine but like the super tight, toes-almost-curling, a ‘take them off as soon as you’re off the wall’ fit, then try a 9.
Thought I'd try again, so I tossed in the few more bucks for the Velcro style and ordered size 11.5 of them.
Got them, still had to cram my foot in them **NOTE I did have those low cut sport socks on**.
I was concerned how they were going to feel when I wanted to use them. They were Better than the 11's.
I read up on IF you were supposed to WEAR SOCKS or not. I leaned to the No Sock theory, but kept wearing socks for an hour on the evening I got them. Then I tried without socks and MAN!!! I THINK THESE ARE GOING TO WORK!!
So the weekend comes and I go to the Rock... put them on without socks, and they were snug... BUT as I wore them and climbed with them they warmed up and I didn't have ANY DISCONFORT at all. They had Great Grip, they were Firm for cracks, I am very Happy with them.
Different colors and can get lace vs velcro, but this was the cheapest variant. Real leather upper molds and stretches to the foot okay as long as the shoe is appropriately tight, but a friend had a similar pair that dyed their foot.
Only issue is the sizing, if you buy your regular size it will fit like a regular shoe (too loose for climbing). Friend and I got reasonably comfortable fits after moving down a whole size and a half with this brand. If you wear a 10.5 regularly, buy a 9. If you want to feel how tight a climbing shoe should be, try your regular size in a black diamond brand climbing shoe or talk to someone from a local shop.
