Jen's Complete Comprehension: Fiction and Complete Comprehension: Nonfiction are assessment and teaching resources that expand upon the comprehension skill progressions from Understanding Texts & Readers and offer hundreds more strategies like those in The Reading Strategies Book. Additionally, Jen is the author of the On-Demand Courses Strategies in Action: Reading and Writing Methods and Content and Teaching Reading in Small Groups: Matching Methods to Purposes, where you can watch dozens of videos of Jen teaching in real classrooms and engage with other educators in a self-guided course. Jen began her career in education as a NYC public school teacher and later joined the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University. Through TCRWP, and now as an independent consultant, she has spent over a decade helping teachers across the country to create literacy classrooms where students are joyfully engaged and the instruction is meaningfully individualized to students' goals. Jen holds a BA from Vassar College and an MA from Teachers College, where she has also taught graduate and undergraduate classes. Disappointing book from a wonderful author22 October 2020 - Published on Amazon.com
I love all of the other books written by Serravallo, so I couldn't wait for this one to arrive. I was disappointed with the content in this book. I didn't feel like I learned anything new, and a lot of the ideas and techniques only would work if your school district doesn't already have a schedule already in place. I would recommend this book to someone that isn't getting a lot of guidance from their administration or is a new teacher. It would have been a wonderful resource in the Spring, but most of the information is readily available through a Google search and probably already in place in your own district. Overall the book feels rushed.

Don’t waste your money27 October 2020 - Published on Amazon.com
I was able to read this book quickly as it didn’t offer any substantial content. It was obvious that the authors and collaborators didn’t actually teach children during the pandemic. It was filled with plenty of fluff and little substance. Extremely disappointed to waste my time and money.

I think I was past the point of needing this book1 November 2020 - Published on Amazon.com
This was well written, but most of the ideas were things I'm already doing or had tried. If I'd bought this last March when we went to remote learning, I'm sure it would have been helpful at that point.

Effective and engaging strategies for remote teaching and learning26 October 2020 - Published on Amazon.com
This book helps educators streamline goals and prioritize what’s most important—meaningful time with students! Jen has over 50 strategies for making the hybrid and remote worlds of teaching not only possible, but also effective and highly engaging for teachers and students. I use this book regularly in my practice, and I’ve purchased one for each of my children’s teachers as well! It’s timely and necessary.
