The AUTOSPOUT Striker Kids Water Bottle
Say goodbye to spills — There’s no worrying about spills when Striker is around. Whether you child is sitting on the couch, in the car or at the table, Striker is designed to avoid the ‘unexpected spills.’ We designed the straw with a spill-poof valve that eliminates spills and leaks even when the spout is in the open position. And, because we know kids tend to make messes and sneeze without covering their mouths, we added a protective spout cover to help guard against dirt and germs. So go ahead, let them drink on the couch while watching TV for once.
- Leak- and spill-proof with AUTOSPOUT technology

- Carry loop
- Fits most car cup holders

Mildew! After about 6 months of use, I noticed a black spot around the silicone and hard plastic spout area. I searched online and read many complaints about it. The only way to clean the mildew out was to completely disassemble the entire unit, which is not user serviceable. There is a chance you can rip the silicone tube or break the plastic spout if you disassembled it. I managed to take mine apart with some scratches on the hard plastic, but with patience it can be done.
At first I did not think much about the mildew because I thought the entire silicone spout was one piece and that the mildew could not come into contact with the water,.... the silicone spout portion is a two piece unit and mildew can get between them. So there is a chance that mildew can get into the water.
Being how difficult it is to clean the unit, and how much effort it takes to suck water out, I would not recommend this to anyone.
Since I have two bottles, and I manged making one of them to work, I can assume that this is not an issue of wrong assembling, as the other bottle works which means I know how to assemble it correctly.
So, yes - I got a defective one. And now, from reading other's reviews - it seems that I'm not the only one and that they have a large amount of defective bottles.
This sucks, because contigo cups are our favorites. They literally never leak, they are super durable for toddlera, and they are cute. We've unfortunately bought our last one.
