I waited a while before writing this review, hoping for a response from LeCreuset first. But sadly, nada.
My 20+y/o LeCreuset dutch oven doesn’t have a single scratch or mar on the tough enameled outside despite years of not so gentle use. This new one has been used twice and even though treated as gently as any expensive brand new item, has a scratch on the side, and mars on the edge of the lid that weren’t there when it arrived. More disappointing was the lack of response to inquiries made to Le Creuset; even I signed up on their website.
I read they are now manufactured in Asia rather than France, though I honestly don’t know for sure... but whatever, I think something has happened to LC’s famous quality. I’m pretty sure it will perform as well as any good enameled cast iron pot, but at LeCreuset prices, my next one will most likely be a Staub or Lodge. Really disappointed in LeCreuset.
