From the Inside Flap
#1 New York Times Bestseller
"You're going to hear the stories of people who were scared, just like you. Who had obligations, just like you. Who were told they were being foolish, or reckless, or irresponsible, or immature. They did it anyway and reaped the rewards. If there's anything this book should teach you, it's that the only thing stopping you from achieving lasting career and life happiness is you."
In his 2009 international bestseller, Crush It!, Gary Vaynerchuk insisted that a vibrant personal brand was crucial to entrepreneurial success. In Crushing It!, Gary explains why that's even more true today, offering his unique perspective on what has changed and what remains timeless. He also shares stories from other entrepreneurs who have grown wealthier--and not just financially--than they ever imagined possible by following Crush It! principles. The secret to their success (and Gary's) has everything to do with their understanding of social media platforms and their willingness to do whatever it takes to make these tools work to their utmost potential. That's what Crushing It! teaches readers to do.
In this lively, practical, and inspiring book, Gary dissects every current major social media platform so that anyone from plumbers to park rangers will know exactly which platforms to use as their pillar content. He offers both theoretical and tactical advice on how to become the biggest thing on old standbys such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram; younger upstarts such as Musical.ly;
audiocentric platforms such as Spotify, SoundCloud, iHeartRadio, and iTunes; and newcomer Alexa Skills. For those with more experience, Crushing It! illuminates some little-known nuances and provides innovative tips and clever tweaks proven to enhance more common, tried-and-true strategies.
Crushing It! is a state-of-the-art guide to building your own path to professional and financial success, but it's not about getting rich. It's a blueprint for living life on your own terms.--John Mayer

If you need a general introduction to all social media platforms, then this book will work for you.
I also didn’t like how he makes sound everything easy from FB ads to shooting videos.
I basically didn't know who Gary was (I know, who doesn't know who Gary is in 2018). I only knew he uses the "F" word probably more than 100 times a day.
Making the story short, I had heard that Gary knew a lot about social media and was recommended to read one of his previous books "Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook" which got me to study more of who Gary was. Eventually, I went to his website and found out he had launched a new book "Crushing It".
Maybe your reading this to know whether you should buy this book or not. I'm so grateful I came across this book. It has completely changed my life, my mind, and it positioned me in a new direction in which I plan to go. For example, I'm currently trying to build an online business which I hoped it could make $6,000 a month. Applying Gary's mindset, I am now certain that I can probably double that amount. "Why do GOOD, when you can do GREAT", right?
If you have a business, buy this book; if you're planning on creating a business, buy this book; if you feel unhappy with your life, buy this book; if you feel unhappy at work, buy this book; if you're looking for inspiration, buy this book; if your husband/wife cheated on you, nope, wrong book. What did you think I was gonna say?
Second - The back contains celebrity friends clearly writing a blurb to help Gary promote his book. I feel the marketing for this book and celebrity recommendations are misleading. If I had the desire to be a you-tuber or make money on social media I probably would have given it a low 4 star rating. But, I don't and I am not.
I believe the book topped the charts due to its marketing and Gary offering incentives if they purchased 1000+ books. Not because the book is that great. I am sure after a few weeks the hype will die and people will start talking about the actual substance.
I love Gary but the book isn't more than a bunch short stories about social media on how to possibly get likes and shares.
I believe it topped the charts due to its original marketing. I'm sure it will die off
