The Foundations of Floral DesignCultivated teaches principles of floral design that provide a guide to working with flowers instead of one-use recipes. A complete master class in floral arranging, the book addresses everything from caring for flowers and choosing vessels to photographing your work and selling arrangements. |
Floral Design as Fine ArtBaroque music, the paintings of the Impressionists, and the work of floral innovators like Gertrude Jekyll and Constance Spry serve as inspiration for Christin's writing and work. She devotes an entire section to learning from the past, elevating floral design to its deserving place as a fine art. |
Personal AnecdotesChristin makes floral design approachable, inviting absolute beginners and master designers to learn along with her. Anecdotes from Christin's own journey from amateur to celebrated expert add charm and a personal touch to each chapter. |

"Cultivated brilliantly pairs Christin's honest, thought-provoking essays with breathtaking photographs of her exquisite floral designs."
—Erin Benzakein, author of Floret Farm's Cut Flower Garden

"Page after page of dramatic photographs are interwoven with insightful design principles drawn from international floral traditions"

"What a delight, not only a jaw-droppingly beautiful feast for the eyes, but filled with practical advice, charming anecdotes, and reaffirming life lessons. This is a book to be cherished."

This is not a typical design how-to book, but rather one that will create a though process within your garden, a sense of place, and history, so that you can start to be creative in your own way, and use her work as inspiration to get started, if you so choose.
Beautiful photography, beautiful flowers, and beautiful words.
