What is an alkaline battery?	Duracell pioneered the Alkaline Manganese Dioxide electrochemical system nearly 40 years ago. In the 1960s, this battery system rapidly became the popular choice of designers in the ever-widening field of consumer electronics.
Do all batteries last the same amount of time?	No, different batteries provide different lengths of life and power output depending on the type and amount of chemicals used to compose them. Think of it like cooking a meal: Using different ingredients and amounts makes the meal taste different.
What is inside a battery?	The three major parts of a battery: The anode, cathode and electrolyte. The anode is often a metal, the cathode a metallic oxide, and the electrolyte a salt solution that facilitates the ion flow.
When should I remove batteries from my device?	Batteries should be removed from devices/equipment when: The device is not expected to be in use for several months The batteries are worn out (to prevent possible damage from battery leakage) The device is being powered by household (AC) current.
Can alkaline batteries be recharged?	Only batteries that are specifically labeled ‘rechargeable’ should be recharged. Any attempt to recharge a nonrechargeable battery could result in rupture or leakage. We recommend that you use NiMH Duracell rechargeables.
Does it matter what type of battery I use in my device?	Always replace the battery or batteries in your equipment with the size and type specified by the manufacturer. Alkaline batteries are often recommended for best performance because zinc carbon batteries have inferior life spans.
How can I get a better life out of my batteries?	Turn off battery-operated radios and appliances when they’re not in use. Remove batteries from devices that won’t be used for a while. Store batteries in a dry place at normal room temperature without the contacts touching.
Are batteries affected by temperature?	We recommend storing batteries at room temperature in a dry environment. Extreme heat or cold reduces battery performance. Avoid putting battery-powered devices in very warm places. In addition, refrigeration is not necessary or recommended.
How do Duracell batteries affect the environment?	In 1993, we voluntarily eliminated added mercury from our batteries. Our alkaline batteries are composed of primarily common materials—steel, zinc and manganese—and do not pose a health or environmental risk in normal use or disposal.

Beware - Not original sealed Duracell Package.

Batteries are not in original Duracell sealed package. The picture is deceptive. I was excepting these batteries to be in original package as shown in the picture. Since they are not in original package, I tested these batteries with a meter and they read 1.6V.

These batteries are Made in China. Other Duracell batteries I purchased are Made in USA.

Dead Batteries

Window shade remote takes 2 AAA batteries. I bought a 16-pack of Duracell, and the first two I tried didn't work. Hmm... Took those out and tried two more from the fresh pack. Still no juice! What?! I retrieved the 2 Panasonic batteries that I had put in the trash and tried them. Bingo! The shades rolled up and down like a charm. (I change batteries yearly, not not just when they die out.) The 5-star company I ordered from "does not offer refunds." LOL 5 stars from whom?? The Amazon rep I spoke to quickly and graciously did offer me a refund, however. BTW, I had called Duracell first, and they said "Don't buy batteries online." The AA I bought at the same time from another company on Amazon are working great, but the AAA were junk.

A surprise at the disappointment

I buy nothing but Duracell. They are remarkably long lived and I am well aware of what I can expect from the product. I put these in towards the end of December 2016. I put them in some battery powered candles with the moving plastic flame and I haven't had them on for more than a couple of minutes at a time to show some friends. The candles are quite clever.
Well, I thought that I would get another short look at the candles today, May 9, and only 1 of the 5 candles worked. Each uses 3 batteries. This is not the performance that Duracell provides. I am not certain as to how these came to be sold on Amazon but they are not as advertised.
I will stick with the hardware store sales of the Duracell. These have a 10 year shelf like? Not even 6 months.

When I was a kid I did a detailed science project about batteries, testing Duracell, Energizer, Panasonic, and some others through multiple stress tests (toy cars on ramps, brightness of light over time, etc...) I found that Energizer was a 10 out of 10, Duracell a 9 out of 10, and Panasonic a 7 out of 10 (but at half the cost, by the way...)

As a kid without income I settled on the Panasonics, because they really were (for me at the time) the Best Battery for the Buck. As I got older, however, I preferred better (and longer) performance, and was willing to pay a premium. Usually Energizer seemed the most expensive so I gravitated to Duracell. I have since settled on Duracell as my standard and was always impressed with the labels that told you how long they would hold a charge. This pack will go for 10 years. No worries about batteries fading in your closet before you can use them. I am happy to buy them in bulk and just keep them for a rainy day, for remotes or toys or what have you, knowing that I won't have to stop what I am doing and run to the store before I can run my latest device.
