These are great! They are a smaller size & not genuine Montessori cards, but they work all the same. They are wooden cards & great quality. My son is 4 in the pictures, running his finger across them. They work perfect for our needs & I'm completely satisfied!
Yes, they are exactly Montessori classroom size or quality, but that's not what I need for my children at home. These are sized perfectly for our small school shelves and seem to be holding up well to 3 and 5 year old hands. There was some loose sand in the package but not too much. I did add a small dot to remind them where to start tracing each letter. Yes, I do recommend!
The bottoms of the boxes were completely detached exposing sharp metal nails or staples. Also, the sand is not exactly sand. I'm not sure what it is. Even if the boxes were not trash, I wouldn't feel safe giving these to a child. They seem too cheap and toxic. Just make them yourself or pay a proper price for real Montessori materials.
Great item, the only fault I have with it is that the sand comes off quite a bit— even two cards rubbing together back to front dislodges the sand. I haven’t seen visible patches or color change, but I think it will show up inevitably. Perhaps it can’t be helped. Otherwise, stellar sandpaper letters. The wood is solid and paint is nice. These are great for grammar work or to take the place of the standard sandpaper letters if you don’t have size for them. I wish there was an option to have them coded red and blue in the same patterns as the moveable alphabet, that would be wonderful!
They look pretty good but after a week of use by one kid the texture has worn off letters. This is my first experience with sand letters so I don’t k ow of this is typical, but it’s not the quality I’d expect They were okay price if long-lasting but not cheap enough to be “disposable.”
The product appears to be aligned with the Montessori method however, the consonants and vowels are the same color; the sandpaper also flakes off, true bummer! We returned the product but I can't be surprised given it was a risk buying a cheaper product.
I am a huge montessori fan and attended a montessori school growing up. I am homeschooling my kids and want to implement montessori at home. No, these aren't a true montessori material...but they work great for what I want! Which is to teach my kids about letters and their sounds and practice using their fine motor skills in preparation for hand writing.
Thick, sturdy, and well made. We had a pair of these for years and the quality never changed. The sand paper did not rub off. We are on our second set only because we lost some of our first. I am very pleased with the quality of the sandpaper letters and the value. My daughter enjoyed using them and they were very helpful in helping her learn to write.
I wanted to rate this as five stars. The quality of materials is perfect. Sturdy, well designed, and well packaged. My daughter already enjoyed tracing some of the letters. Downside...my lower case alphabet came with two "b" tiles and no "d". I can use the "p" to make a "d", but given the quality of the item I would not have expected to have to do that. If it weren't for that I would rate this five stars and rave about it.
The cards are much smaller than expected. The actual dimension of the cards themselves was not in the description, but they are about 3x4 inches. I returned them and will buy a larger set, which is more appropriate for the 3yo I am shopping for. They were very good quality though.
