1.0 out of 5 stars Might be important to consider who this book acknowledges as important....
Reviewed in the United States on 6 August 2020
I was so excited about this book, and we received it as a gift. The layout and images are beautiful, but—let’s be real for a minute re: audience and content. It’s 2020: why does the section featuring important individuals look like it comes from a western textbook from 1963 or thereabouts? For instance, how is it possible that all of the scientists we want children to be (first) introduced to are white? In all of human history, ..., really? I’m white, and I don’t want to be ironing this world view into the mind of my (also white) child. Something to consider if you care about the way that history is often selectively presented to growing minds.
