The full title of this book is "Erwin Blumenfeld: Blumenfeld Studio, Color, New York, 1941-1960". As such, this is the definitive collection of Blumenfeld's later colour work in New York, most of which was done for Vogue and for advertising clients. The reproductions in this volume are outstanding, with every texture and detail perfectly sharp. Also included throughout are images of the magazines and advertisements in which these images originally appeared. Finally, the book ends with various essays on Blumenfeld's colour work and archive, with a detailed account of how his original film was restored for the publication of this book.
Please note that this book contains none of Blumenfeld's early black and white photographic experiments and collages done in Europe, and focuses solely on his later commercial colour work while in New York. The result is that this volume almost mostly contains his fashion photographs.
