App is malware

You must use the VeSync app to use this scale for anything but weight, no body fat, BMI, ect. Norton flags this app for placing ads on your phone homescreen, data mining, and unusual behavior. Returned immediately.

The scale is not intended for athletic people
23 March 2019 -
Published on Amazon.comStyle Name: Bluetooth ScaleVerified Purchase
I have an old Tanita body composition scale and decided to go for an upgrade.
This scale is *beautiful*. It's fast, sleek, looks great and the UI/UX is amazing.
Unfortunately, I'm pretty athletic and this scale does not work for me at all. I usually stay between 6-9% body fat, I'm train track&field and lift weights 6 times per week. This scale showed 22% bf, and all other measurements except of weight we're wayyy offf as well.
Ok, I tested it on two of my roommates - one is a competitive rock climber, super lean and athletic, and it showed her at 29% body fat whole she is probably closer to 15%.
For both of us the BMI was around 22-23, which is... To put it mildly, very unlikely.
Well, next subject, my other roommate - he's not a competitive athlete, but he does cardio or lifting most days and stays in general good shape.
I'd out his body fat around 15-18% and Tanita shows him at 17%. This scale? 22%. BMI - 24.
All other readings of course follow this misrepresentation.
How this scale manages to take a 6'1 guy at 176lbs, who's very lean and a 6'2 guy at 188lbs and generally fit and put them at the same body fat, and quite high BMI, is beyond me.
I could test the scale on my remaining roommate but she happens to be a body builder so I doubt it'll work well...
I contacted support and they told me that the scale is not intended for my body type and will not show accurate measurements.
While I can accept such answer, it makes it look funny to see all those pictures of athletic people with yoga mats and at the gym on their marketing material.
As far as I can tell this is a beautiful device with a nice mobile app and great hardware that doesn't work for people who work out.
I hope they'll fix the software one day!
== UPDATE ==
I got RENPHO Smart Heart Rate Body Fat Scale and compared it to this scale and Tanita. Repho shows measurements very close to Tanita and generally believable, so I'd suggest it over this scale. It's not as pretty, but it looks good and what's more important it measures accurately.

Beautiful, not accurate for fit people, but still worth it
25 July 2019 -

Clearly a very beautiful scale, and I find the weight to be accurate. However, the other analysis such as body fat are definitely off. I compared it to the Renpho scale (the green one in the collage) and my weight comes out exactly the same, but the other analysis are far different. The Renpho is known to be way more accurate (though still off), and it links with more apps such as Samsung health, apple health, Fitbit, whereas the Etekcity does not link with Samsung but does with Fitbit and apple health.
From my understanding, most scale struggle to accurately determine analysis for very fit people, but do well for less fit people which is the case for this one.
I personally will stick to this Etekcity just because it's absolutely beautiful, very attractive and even though the analysis isn't accurate, it does track changes well.
I'll update to see how far off it is next time I use a bodpod for the other analysis such as body fat.

Great Smart Scale With a Wide Platform! (Fitbit integration issue has been fixed!)
17 January 2019 -
Published on Amazon.comStyle Name: Bluetooth ScaleVerified Purchase
Update (June 1, 2019): I have raised my rating back to 5 stars since the Fitbit integration issue has been fixed as of version 2.7.0 of the VeSync app.
In 2013, I needed a new scale. After researching options available on Amazon, I purchased the EatSmart Precision Plus Digital Bathroom Scale with Ultra-Wide Platform. It has been (and still is) a great scale! I am still using the original batteries, and it tracks accurately when I am weighed at my doctor’s office. Almost six years later, the EatSmart scale is still available on Amazon with more than 14,000 reviews:
https://www.amazon.com/d/Bathroom-Digital-Scales/EatSmart-Precision-Bathroom-Ultra-Wide-Platform/B0032TNPOE
Although I did not purchase the EatSmart scale because it had a wide platform, I have grown to love that feature. I wear size 13 shoes, and most bathroom scales are about 12” x 12”. The EatSmart scale is 15.5” x 12.9”. Most bathroom scales now feel small to me.
I recently decided to get a smart scale because I grew tired of logging my weight into the Fitbit app. The Etekcity Smart Bluetooth Body Fat Scale is the only smart scale I found on Amazon that has a wide platform. The scale appears to be a new product. When I ordered there were no reviews, and as I write this review, I only see a single 5-star review posted. However, the reviews for the other two Etekcity smart scales available on Amazon are great, so I figured I would take a chance. Here are links to the other Etekcity smart scales on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Etekcity-Smart-Bluetooth-Body-Scale/dp/B07D7R25JV
https://www.amazon.com/Etekcity-Bluetooth-Measurements-Conductive-Composition/dp/B078JDXLFG
I am very impressed! The scale looks gorgeous and has great build quality. It is surprisingly heavy. I am also glad it is white. I have read that black scales tend to more easily show water spots and foot prints.
One thing I do not love about the scale is that it does not appear to store readings for later retrieval by the app and device. I need to have the app open for the data to be retrieved. Some of the other smart scales I looked at have this feature. However, I keep my scale a few rooms away from my bedroom and I keep an iPad in my bedroom, so it is easy enough to launch the app before walking to the other room to weigh myself. The scale has great Bluetooth range and can link to my iPad a few rooms away.
Integration with the Fitbit app appears to be fine. Once scale data is logged into the VeSync app, it is automatically sent to the Fitbit app and appears in my Fitbit account. However, only weight, % body fat, and BMI are transmitted to Fitbit. The VeSync app records/caclulates weight, % body fat, BMI, fat-free body weight, % subcutaneous fat, % visceral fat, % body water, % bone mass, % muscle mass, % protein, BMR, and metabolic age.
The platform is a tad bit smaller than the platform of the EatSmart scale, but as can be seen in the attached picture, it is close enough. Also, the accuracy appears to be great. After several weighings using both scales, I get consistent measurements within 0.2 pounds of each other. I know that the EatSmart scale is accurate, and it appears that the Etekcity smart scale is accurate too.
I also love the display! One advantage of having a wide platform is that there is more room to extend the display down between the feet. While the EatSmart scale has larger digits, the Etekcity smart scale is still easy to read, and of course, the data is also transmitted to the VeSync app and the Fitbit app.
I highly recommend this scale! If anything changes, I will update my review.
