Such a sweet book! I bought this book for our 9 month old, because she seemed to be starting to experience and express emotions beyond I'm hungry, tired, or wet. She now gets upset if you take something from her or giggles regularly at funny things. I feel like it's a great book to start on with her to help her learn and process emotions from a young age. I love that the pictures are cute and fun but also a good way for the child to look and perceive that emotion...not just by reading words. It's also a fun way to practice our animals with each new page. I imagine a book like this would be especially good for children on the autism spectrum. I would highly recommend for young children!
I am a therapist, teacher, and mother, and I love this! The descriptions of each emotion are simple, and the pictures make me (as an adult) want to read it again. Feelings books often have stick-figure drawings but this is much more relatable (and fun)!
I love this book! A wonderful resource to explore feelings and emotions. The pictures of the animals are so cute, they will keep the children amused and engaged. As a teacher, I really like the additional 'Parent tips' and activities. They are very useful. This book is a must for teachers, parents, therapists, and children!

This book by a psychologist that has pictures on every other page of an animal expressing emotions will fascinate children and teach them about their emotions. On the facing page is the name of the emotion - such as sad, embarrassed - and some words describing it. Parents can read it or summarize the few lines for the child. The author also includes two pages of "Parent Tips" that tell parents how to use the book to educate their child. The psychologist writes, "As a Child Psychologist, I know when parents reassure their children that it is OK to talk about feelings, they are giving them a very important gift."

This book should be on every baby shower registry and on the bookshelves of anyone who cares for toddlers through kindergarten aged children. The expressions and body posturing of a variety of animals are perfect for illustrating various emotions felt by everyone. Combining the adorable photographs with simple and colorful text will provide opportunities to help youngsters begin to put names to feelings, to realize we all have them and talking about them is a good thing. In the back matter, author and psychologist Julie Dini also includes activities to extend the learning and the time together.
