Holy cow! These actually work! See video. They got the blood and iodine out of towels! My only concern is how hard they are. I bought another pair and the other pair is made with a soft plastic. This is a very rigid plastic so I'm thinking I won't use this one on my delicate clothes.

I saw these in Europe and took a pass because of the price but was curious because they seemed like a good idea. I found it here on Amazon at a much more reasonable price and have been using it for two months now and I have to say it really truly does work BUT only if you follow the directions. Once a month you have to take it out of the washer and put it outside in direct sunlight for at least one hour. It works on all our clothes and linens, even bathroom rugs. The only thing I have found it does NOT work on is heavily dirty or stained things like floor mop heads and dust clothes-for those I switch back to detergent, but I don't mind because they are not worn or slept on.
My spouse has allergies and I had been using a laundry detergent that was "free" of dyes and perfumes but sometimes that still caused a rash and skin burns- now it's all good-no problems so far. When I switch back to detergent I run the load then run an extra rinse cycle with just cleaning strength vinegar in the water-nothing else and I'm ready to use the ball again.

I never write reviews. So when I do, it's either a really good product or a really bad one. Unfortunately this product was bad. I had this laundry ball for less than a month and it opened up in the washer one day. Beads were everywhere. They were mixed in with my clothes and all over the bottom of my washer. I had to dig every single one out. This was very disappointing bc the ball was doing a fine job washing my clothes. Then it split open in one area and created a mess and I had to throw it away. Not worth the money spent.

Laundry balls help me to conserve water in the drought

This is a great invention. We live in California and are affected by the drought. So to conserve water we use the water from our washer (and showers) to water our garden. The laundry ball allows us to do this without getting all kinds of detergents and chemicals in our plants. I am really surprised that more people aren't doing this. And our clothes are clean as well. I admit that the ball does not remove stains, so i use an eco friendly stain remover, just in the areas that need it.

If you choose to get a laundry ball and live in an area of limited water, please consider installing a grey water system.

I am updating this review after using it for a year. I still love this product, BUT I do think the bumps on it have worn out some of my clothes. I think they probably grip and pull on them sometimes if they get caught in an item of clothing. Because of the many holes I now have in quite a number of items, I am dropping this a couple of stars. Holes weren't there when I put them in the wash, and now they are. This has happened numerous times. If they changed the ball to a smooth ball, it probably would not happen. Curious if anyone else has had their items start getting holes also after having used it for a year. I just ordered the magnetic laundry system, and am expecting the same or better cleaning results as this green wash ball.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Great for those of us with chemical sensitivities, and healthy for everyone! I used to alternate using borax, 7thGeneration, Biokleen, vinegar, baking soda or soap nuts to clean my clothes depending on what was a good deal at the time. I use this exclusively now, and it does a great job of washing clothes. I've even had some shirts with yellowing collars come out clean. I did let them soak with the ball overnight, but that was all I did. It has also helped with "some" articles of clothing that I've purchased at thrift stores with scented detergents on them or perfumes. It must depend on the fabric, but I don't have to wash them nearly as much as I did before. In some cases, the odors came out on the first wash! Others, I've had to let soak overnight, and on occasion wash a couple more times. In the past, I've tried everything to get those odors out, including soaking in borax and vinegar for days, and they still were just as smelly. I even tried putting them out in the sun and wind for days, and usually does not help all that much for the heavily scented clothes. So, I am very happy with this product.

I did have one pair of shorts that just wanted to hold onto the scent, and the combination of this product and PureAyre afterwards helped a lot. I was concerned it was ruined because the ball smelled heavily of the scented detergent from that one piece of clothing, but it quickly dissipated, (within a day or less, I did not keep checking on it to see how long it took to de-scent, it might've been an hour) and has absolutely no scent at all now.

I've since bought another to have on hand, and would love to see the majority of the population using this product or similar, as it's so much healthier, safer on us and the environment. The "scents" companies use, are not even tested for human safety, and with all the cancer and new autoimmune disorders, and other diseases coming up, we could all be helped by lessening our toxic load. This is a great start!

If you have mcs or just want to save money, or live healthier, I recommend this product.
