The right ironing surface
Steel mesh top is the best surface for steam ironing. The steel mesh lets the steam push through clothing and the board for powerful wrinkle-release.
Presswood (or wood) surfaces are great for fast pressing. These surfaces hold up well, are lightweight and easy to carry, and travel easily. They hold up to occasional steam.Replacement cover available.
Table top boards set up on tables--or the floor, on top of the washing machine, etc.
And they store almost anywhere. These small boards slide under beds and inside closets. Models 122101 and 131210 even hang over doors.
Replacement cover available
Table top boards come with the cover & pad already installed. Covers are cotton with a fiber pad sewn in.
This blue silicone replacement cover (Household Essentials 1209 Cover & 4 mm Pad for Table Top Ironing Boards) fits when it is time to replace the cover and pad, too.

All-in-all, I'm happy I got this. Putting it on my ironing board was not an issue. I saw some reviews where people stated that it was a real hassle to get on, but I didn't have this issue at all. Not sure what board they were using, but perhaps the fact that I was putting this Household Essentials cover on a Household Essentials board helped.
Like others mentioned, it did seem like there were certain areas that weren't very form fitting and the material bunched up just a little bit. It wasn't bad at all. After ironing a couple of button-up shirts, it appears that the process took care of that, as well.
I still did notice (though not NEARLY as bad) that there was just a touch of the iron grate coming through when I ironed the shirt, but that goes away when the shirt cools down. At least I think it does. I can't see it and no one has come to me asking what the heck happened to my shirt.
For those looking to replace a thin, torn or otherwise crappy mini board cover, I'd definitely recommend this.
This cover is very tight and took some maneuvering to get on, but it does fit ... Tip: I had to put it on the flat edge first, then work around to the rounded edge.
I am concerned about any shrinkage that may happen when I wash it though.
The padding is sufficient for a solid board.
This stretched on pretty easily and seems to stay on without too much effort. I deliberately bought the board that was metal (as opposed to the glorified press board) because it holds up to steam ironing without warping. However, the vent holes do need more padding that the paper-thin cover and paper-thin pad (generous description) that came on it. That is why I bought this and it works pretty well for keeping the vent holes from imprinting on the the items I am ironing. I gave it 4 out of 5 because the pad part really should be a little thicker. It won't take long for the holes to start showing through on the items I am ironing. Pads thin out over time if they are not the thick kind for the full size ironing board.
This was the best I have found anywhere. I looked at Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, Wayfairer, Overstock.com and a number of others. And this was cheaper than any of the other options I found as well.
