Disappointed. I buy Hape kitchen foods because they are made mostly out of wood, and this set is lacking in wooden toy aspect.
The all three pieces of fish and the knife is made of plastic. The trays are made out of thick paper (great for toddlers, right?). Lemon wedge and bacon strips are made of felt, which I find good for imagination play. The chicken meat is plush (which I anticipated in the picture). The chicken bone and steak are made of wood.
The fish sides also has a printing error where the fins are upside down. This set is a good addition in food items, but it is lackluster compared to what the brand usually achieves. I’ve eight Hape kitchen toys sets, and this is the first one that I am disappointed in.
I just assumed that for over $20, that this toy would be mostly wooden. I’m glad I got this on an Amazon Warehouse deal because I would not be happy paying full price.
