Big fan of the magna defender (more for his japanese counter part Hyuga/Bull knight), but honestly the quality of these toys have gone down. These ranger sets look nice on picture, but each one has had poor painting and scratches. This one had a silver scratch mark on the cape, arms, an behind the leg. I am not sure if this is because of the packaging process but it is damaged inside the box. Even after awhile the paint actually starts to chip away which is a scary thought if your kid is playing with this. It would seem that it is actually hard to find a good quality painted figure for this price and I assume they are just using cheaper material to make these toys. The hinges are god awful. You barely have any articulation with this figure. You cannot really bend the knees, the cape is just a hard little flexible material that cannot be removed, and the sword is bit on the smaller end compared to the size in the show. If this is being posed, you can probably get them in one or two good poses but nothing like any of the poses you would get in power ranger poses. Also after a few usage, the hinges become loose really quickly and they just do not stand anymore. I have had one figure where the joint actually just broke due to poor molding. I figure again this is due to cheaper parts. Unlike other figure, this one does not look extremely muscular. I honestly do not know why these have to be EXTREMELY muscular figures. I fell this just does not really reflect on the actual show too much. The detail of the figure is okay on this figure but not the best. The figure looks relatively nice but again the paint just comes away and it is not really good for articulately. The blade also is just a little on the smaller end compared to the show.. Overall I think this toy is a bit on the cheap side. The quality definitely has gone down hill compared to many other toys in the past with the joints becoming looser sooner (some times breaks) and the paint work being very sloppy.

This is one good looking figure from wave 2 of the Lightening collection. This one & the Pink ranger are the most sought after from this wave by both fans and collectors. Collect entire waves if possible, these will eventually dry up on the toy shelves

Magna Defender is another excellent addition to the lighting collection. His origin story and character development is simply deep and nostalgic, as he plays the vengeful character, showing constraint until he sacrificed his life. The sculpt on him is unreal and Hasbro absolutely nailed it. His accessories are very well represented, even has a sheath that clips in on a hilt. His effect part is a very nice touch, adding more character representation to him.
