Included Components | The Home Master Jr. F2 Elite Countertop Water Filter with Fluoride and Chloramine Filtration Model TMJRF2E is an advanced five stage counter-top water filter that removes up to 93 percent of dirt and rust; fluoride, arsenic, lead, iron, mercury, copper; CHLORAMINES, chlorine, VOCs, THMs; many pharmaceuticals (microcontaminants) tastes and odors. Dissolved solids like calcium and magnesium minerals are not removed. The F2 Elite has special channel blockers to ensure even filtration. This Elite version adds the latest filtration media - Catalytic Carbon and KDF85 - to treat the very persistent chemical contaminant - chloramines. If your city does not already use chloramines, they most likely will soon. Ordinary carbon filters are unable to remove this stubborn disinfectant. It takes a more advanced carbon known as Catalytic Carbon, and the redox media KDF85. However these two media do far more than just remove chloramines. The KDF85 media will also remove soluble metals such as lead |

Product description
The Home Master Jr. F2 Elite Sinktop Water Filtration System delivers exceptional water purity with its advanced five-stage filter, which removes up to 93 percent of dirt and rust; soluble metals like fluoride, arsenic, lead, iron, mercury, copper, and aluminum; chemicals like chloramines, chlorine, VOCs, THMs, and many pharmaceuticals (microcontaminants) that create foul tastes and odors in your tap water. (Note that dissolved solids like calcium and magnesium minerals are not removed.) The Home Master Jr. F2 Elite uses its powerful catalytic carbon filtration media to treat the very persistent chemical disinfectant chloramine. Ordinary carbon filters are unable to effectively remove this stubborn contaminant that is now being deployed nationwide to replace chlorine. That's why the Home Master Jr. F2 Elite uses the more advanced carbon media known as catalytic carbon. What separates the Home Master Jr F2 Elite from the competition is its granular filters? Many granular filters suffer from a condition where the water bypasses the filtration media completely. A fully channeled and bypassed filter will look like the inside of an anthill, and a substantial amount of the water will pass through it unfiltered. The Home Master Jr. F2 Elite solves this problem by using compression disks, filling the filter cartridge completely, then installs compression disks at the inlet, outlet and between layers to ensure even filtration. This package contains a fully assembled Tap Master Jr. F2 Elite with filter, sink faucet diverter valve, additional 15/16 x 13/16 faucet adapter, flexible connection tubing, long-reach chrome faucet, and instructions. Operating conditions: pH <7.5; feed water PSI 20 - 90 PSI; water temp 40 to 100 degrees F; 2000 ppm maximum total dissolved solids.

Advanced multi-stage granular filterWhat separates the Home Master Jr F2 Elite from the competition is its granular filters. Many granular filters suffer from a condition where the water bypasses the filtration media completely. A fully channeled and bypassed filter will look like the inside of an anthill, and a substantial amount of the water will pass through it unfiltered. The Home Master Jr. F2 Elite solves this problem by filling the filter cartridge completely, then installing compression disks at the inlet, outlet and between layers to ensure even filtration. The F2 Elite also uses the latest filtration medias — catalytic carbon and KDF85 — to treat chloramines and remove up to 93 percent of soluble heavy metals such as lead, mercury, copper, and iron, and light metals such as aluminum. To maintain optimum filtration, Home Master Jr. Elite filters should be changed every three months or 500 gallons. |

FAQs
Was the name changed from Tap Master to Home Master?
Yes, Perfect Water Technologies felt the Home Master name better reflected a commitment to delivering pure water throughout your home with sinktop, undersink and whole house water purification products.
Will this filter remove 100% of the fluoride?
No, it will remove up to 93% of fluoride under the stated operating conditions. It is important to note that the media used to remove fluoride – activated alumina – is contact dependent. This means that by increasing the amount of time the water spends in the media, more of the contaminant will be removed. Operating the system at less than the maximum flow rate improves the contact time and increases the removal rate.
Is the filter replaceable?
Yes, it contains a replaceable filter cartridge. Change it every 3 months or 500 gallons, whichever comes first. A wrench is not needed to open the housing. A newly redesigned filter cartridge ensures the filter fits snugly without leaks and produces great tasting water. Replacement filter part number: CFF2E-10
Can I test the filter performance with a TDS meter?
Not really. TDS is a measure of total dissolved solids - the bulk of which are calcium and magnesium minerals, which this filter leaves intact. As a result very little, if any, change in TDS is to be expected. A better option is to use chlorine test strips, and view that result as a surrogate indicator for the filter’s overall performance.

We're expecting at least 80-90% removal of chlorine, fluoride, etc.
Here's the relevant numbers in our testing:
Free chlorine in, 1.4 ppm. Free chlorine out, 1.2 ppm. Removal about 15%.
Fluoride in , 0.7 mg per liter. Fluoride out, about 0.5 mg per liter. Removal, around 30%
I've got more - but the point is chlorine, chloramine, and fluoride were the issues we wanted addressed.
Turns out in a multifunction filter like this you get a little of each thing, but not enough of most. Fluoride is very hard to remove and a filter with only a half load or less of activated alumina won't perform well at the flow rates this filter delivers. The chlorine was the heartbreaker, though.
It's possible the media in the filter got scrambled in shipping - but since the cartridge is opaque, you can't see it that is the case - and that's a major problem in its own right.
Anyway, a hundred dollars into the project, and with water that isn't all that bad to start with, the filtered product smelt of chlorine. Unacceptable in our book.
The unit isn't NSF certified - and they defend that by saying the ingredients are - but there aren't enough of them.
Thus - it isn't certified, and the way it behaved for us - it probably wouldn't pass if they tried.
Too bad - the housing is good stuff, and they are good folks, and their tech support is responsive.
Wish I could give more stars - BUT - it's gotta actually WORK.

One thing that I love but question about this unit is the amazing flow rate. Other countertop water filters I used had a much slower flow rate, which was annoying as I had to wait. However, I wonder whether or not water can be filtered as effectively when flowing so quickly through the filter. Is there really time for adequate filtration? I can't answer that right now, but I will update the review after I get a chance to test the water.

Only problem I had with it when connecting was the very cheap adapters that were included! I had to take the adapter off and it was made with cheap thin plastic and I tore it up getting it off! Went to Lowe's and got a metal one and it worked perfectly! (Why would they use plastic for the adapter when the rest of the filter is so well made??). The company did replace the adapter but again, it was cheap plastic so I didn’t use!
