The VZ-X and the Apple TV 4K were 15 feet apart.
The day we opened the box, I tested the wireless feature and it worked perfectly for about 15 minutes. This was a test run. Three days later my wife held live watercolor class and the wireless feature was an absolute nightmare.
I do not recommend the VZ-X. We will be trying to return this model and downgrade for the cheaper HDMI only version.
Update: Ipevo tech support has responded on average within 24 hours, but only via email, so it's frustrating trying to troubleshoot this. They respond with some suggestions one day later, then I respond with the results to their steps, and then another day goes by before I get another response. So far 2 emails from them and still no progress resolving the problem. We will see. I'm ready to send it back.
I was able to solve the problem myself, it wasn't the Ipevo doc camera at all. I'm using this with Zoom and didn't realize that Zoom settings automatically have the mirror option selected. I found the problem and changed it about 15 minutes before I went "live."
I'm using my Ipevo VZ-X doc camera to teach online music lessons (piano & voice) and it's working superbly. I can use it as the webcam, demonstrate at the piano, write on my music white board, display printed sheet music for discussion, etc.
Last week I used my tablet and hated it. By the time the week ended, after 25 years of teaching and loving it, I wanted to quit! But after receiving the Ipevo and getting it set up, plus using a headset + mic, I'm having a blast again!
Thank you for such an excellent product and customer service.
Connecting wirelessly requires that you disconnect from your wifi in order to use the camera. When filming video lessons this was okay. I would film them and save them to my laptop. I would later upload them to my Google Drive or YouTube to share with my students. I was unable to be connected to wifi and my document camera at the same time. That means, I was unable to use it during my Zoom meetings.
I made various videos of me reading stories to my Kinders. The videos came out clear. My voice did as well. I used the time lapse feature and was able to capture a few of our butterflies emerging from their cocoon. The students enjoyed those videos as well. This was done connected wirelessly to the document camera and unfortunately not to my wifi. This meant that I could not create a live stream.
I attempted to connect the VZ-X to my laptop but had no luck. I used the HDMI to USB connection for that. I attempt to connect the VZ-X to my television using HDMI to HDMI but that did not work. (That might have been user error on my part.) Finally today, with the first day of school for students approaching, I wanted to try one more time. And I succeeded! In order to connect my VZ-X to my laptop, I need to use the mini USB port (that you use to charge it) and the USB port on my laptop. This makes me extremely happy and I will now be able to use the camera while connected to wifi.
2. WiFi to camera is by its own Ssid, non obvious if you can put it on own net.
3. Zoom is incremental, not smooth.
4. Could not easily / apparently get it to see a Catan board, which is smaller than 11x19.
5. No power adapter, manual says you cannot charge (p 7). [didn't come charged, either ... ]
