To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we do not use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
1.0 out of 5 starsNot a good software development text, very disappointed

This text partially covers the Spring Boot Framework from the perspective of developing a server side rendered web application using an HTML template engine. Most of the text is focused on controller layer processing via single HTTP request and passing data up to the view layer via a template engine. The design patterns within this text are antiquated and opaque. The text offers no information regarding design pattern development or how the framework is providing utility to the developer. This is a "magic" book that will leave the reader wondering how things work more than understanding what is actually happening or the benefit of using a framework like Spring.

After getting comfortable with Core Java, I decided it was finally time to jump into web technology and test myself. SpringBoot has been all the rave, so I purchased this small book. 1. It’s small, so I knew it’d get straight to the point. 2. It’s just what the title says, an introduction, so if you’re intermediate or advanced why would you even consider an introduction level book(giving less stars because of that is somewhat terrible thing to do. The authors literally named the book as introduction). 3. Answers questions new developers seem to find mysterious like, “how do I connect a database to my app”, “What are Some modern fundamental APIs and things a Java developer should know” (annotations, JPA, Hibernate, a bit of html, build tools like Maven, design tools, security, etc). This book introduces these critical concepts to new comers. 4. This book helps you to take your skills to the next level, leads you down paths that gets you asking yourself critical questions you can go and explore. Prepares you to go the next steps and deepen your understanding of SpringBoot. The internet is a massive resource, if you wonder how JPA or database connectivity with Spring works you can go to the internet and search that. If you are still worried your code is sloppy, perhaps a Spring design book should be your next stop. One book will not give you everything you need to know, design is outside of the scope of this book.
I’m giving a 5 star rating because this book does exactly what the title says it’ll do at precisely the level it says it will. As a developer, we all know our efforts are our own and no one is responsible for leading us down the path. This book opens doors, answers some questions, and helps you develop better questions to continue down your path. I’d recommend this quick introduction that you can finish in a week or two if it’s your only focus. A month, if you only have weekends. Get this book if you want to quickly get up to speed and get your hands a little dirty...as a beginner. Lastly, I was able to begin my dream project with the knowledge from this book. So it’s been a great start in my experience.

Really liked the step-by-step guide of this textbook! The explanation at the end really helps bring the concepts together. Made learning a new language as easy as following instructions. Definitely would recommend for new coders and those just interested to learn something new at their own pace.
Thanks to this book, I have learned coding basics that I need to succeed as a developer. The authors are knowledgeable and experienced and this book is clear and easy to follow.
Highly recommend this book to others seeking to enter the IT industry.
