Upon curing, which occurs when the product is exposed to the moisture in air, the silicone forms a tough, waterproof seal on most surfaces. It will not shrink or crack, resists weathering, is sensor safe and is great for many automotive applications.

My vehicle is basically being held together with this stuff, and it's working great! I used this to reattach the handle on my lift gate that was loose as well as seal a window and put back on a mirror. We had a brutally cold winter this year, and it held up just fine. I'm sure I'm not using how it's supposed to be used, but when you're broke and have a 18 year old vehicle, you do what you have to.

First squeeze of tube pushed silicone out the wrong end

I've used dozens of similar products that come in a tube, made of thin aluminum I believe. In fact, I've used a number of J-B Weld products in the past and bought this because of past positive experiences. Following the directions on the package, I used the reverse end of the plastic cap to puncture the opening on the nozzle end and screwed on the long plastic tapered applicator nozzle. I trimmed the nozzle to size which opened the end. So far, so good.
I had prepped the window seal I planned to silicone and began gently squeezing the tube. Some thick black silicone came out the applicator nozzle tip as expected, but unexpectedly a large glob of silicone flowed out the other end of the tube which is supposed to be sealed. Much like a toothpaste tube, typically there is an initial crimped fold of the base of the tube which in this case, appeared to be unfolded, and un-crimped in this tube allowing the silicone to simply push out the wrong end. I had not noticed the defect when I first unpackaged the tube as the bottom end was flat and aligned.
Needless to say it was a terrible mess. I had silicone all over my gloves, on my car body and window, and was really frustrated. I suspect a manufacturing failure to fold and crimp seal the end of the tube. I spent the next 30 minutes cleaning everything up and throwing out gloves, rags, and paper towels. I wish I could try it again but not going to risk buying another bad tube. I'll stick to other J-B Weld products for now.

I bought this for replacing the knock sensors on my 2001 GMC Sierra which had a design flaw and needed this stuff to build a water dam around them after replacing the rusted one.

I first cleaned up the area till it was spotless - preparation is key with any adhesive or paint! It goes on easily and you can use a wet finger to contour it and smooth it out.

It cleans up easily when "wet" using shop towels and isopropyl/rubbing alcohol.

If you replace the cap and pull out the cured silicone plug from the nozzle you can use it repeatedly.

I ended up needing it for another fix one month later and it was still good. In fact, I'm going to order another to keep as a spare for repairing stuff, because it's extremely handy for any small fixes that could use some water-tight electrically-insulating silicone sealant.

Good bond for medium high-temp applications. I haven't had the same trouble with cure inside the tube after opening that I've had with other brands. I'll be using this going forward.

Update - I've gone through a couple of more tubes now and this is definitely my favorite product of this type. It has a better bond that other black silicone RTV products I've used. Definitely a different odor but maybe that has something to do with its superior performance. I've used it for oil-resistant gaskets on my motorcycle, various electrical applications as an insulator with high temperature bond strength, to secure thermocouples that go up to 500F, and other miscellaneous applications where I need an elastomeric bond that will withstand water and high temperature.

Needs More BLK

Worked but cracked off on hottest areas of smoker firebox.

it worked well on SOME of the areas on my smoker that don't get that hot, but some of the hot areas of my firebox on my smoker cracked and broke and flaked right off, even after a good cleaning/brushing of debris and a two day cure.

I will buy some more an apply it again to confirm it's use. It did plug a lot of the needed areas though.

My infared themomoter only ready at 550 degrees and the packaging stated it can hold up to 650 degrees.
