Very Basic, No Traditional Ikebana Info
8 April 2021 -
Published on Amazon.comVerified Purchase
This is a book for people interested in creating ikebana-style floral arrangements quickly, without any of the history, theory, or complexity of more traditional ikebana styles. If that's what you're looking for it's a great book. Do take a look at the author's specific style of ikebana before you buy--if you dislike her style you won't be interested in making any of the step-by-step projects that make up most of the book. If I'd enjoyed her style I would have kept the book, as it is I'm returning it. If you want a book about more traditional ikebana, info on the various schools/styles, in-depth info and diagrams, lots of images of each style and variation, there's another Tuttle book called Ikebana: The Art of Arranging Flowers by Shozo Sato. That one is 5 stars all the way.

Love the text and photos providing overview of Ikebana practices, options and what's needed to start trying some of these. I'm new to this, so the combo photos + text have been great in outlining this approach and recommendations to get begin.

Simply Simplistic!

I am very new to Floral Design - which is now way beyond ''Flowers in a vase'' and becoming a very contemporary forms of art. So I find Ikebana to be so refreshing for its simplicity. I have taken several courses in Ikebana and find it such a relaxing form of design. Even the history of Ikebana is facinating. I refer to this book often but also just enjoy browsing through it.
