Ronald Reagan is one of America's favorite presidents. This book looks at what made him a good president. When it came to him giving dynamic speeches, and not looking at his notes so much, it was his acting past, that allowed him to do that. He also had been the governor of California. Nixon and Reagan used to be friends although Reagan was friendlier to Nixon then the other way around. This book also looks at Hinckley the man who shot Reagan. It states his motives, what Hinckley could possibly have thought that gave him the idea. Which is where the end of the story has poetic justice, the very person he was trying to impress was a lesbian.
After being shot, yet surviving, this put a limit on Reagan's performance as president. This book doesn't stop there, it starts from when he was an actor to his final days. It also tells you about Margaret Thatcher and his stance on communism. Also Patti Davis, his daughter from his third wife didn't get on with Reagan, till years later. Finally about Communism, the Cuban government wishes he was never born, he obviously had an effect. Surprisingly at one point, Reagan wasn't against communism till he saw it's bad effects.

Maybe the Best "Killing. . . ." Book Yet9 January 2017 - Published on Amazon.com
In many ways the best "Killing. . . " book yet. Gives new depth to Ronald Reagan, warts and all. But one comes away with deep appreciation for what he accomplished after being handed such a mess by Jimmy Carter. There are obvious parallels in degradation of domestic and international policy by Carter then and Barack Obama now. Ronald Reagan was far more prepared than so many realized or would admit. But Nancy would be happy that history has been kind to her Ronnie. And this book enables us to understand why that happened.

It could have all been avoided if Hinkley was properly evaluated by his doctor!18 December 2019 - Published on Amazon.com
Book went into a lot of background on people surrounding Reagon that news at the time did not mention and life of his family that I was not aware of. I didn’t know of the family feud and what Mrs. Reagon was thought of at the White House. Hinkley was discussed like no news reports described him. I learned more about Reagon’s time as president than I thought I would. Hard to stop reading.
