Nursing school... I could start my own library. I was required to bring my laptop, notebook, and 12 lb (not joking) hardcover book to every class, no exception. After 2 classes and worrying my poor backpack was going to rip open, I noticed really sharp neck and back pain. The straps of my backpack left indents it was that heavy. I'm already short and carrying around that kind of load felt like it was shrinking me an inch every day.
I'd previously ordered another rolling backpack for significantly less but found that the lack of pockets was problematic. I still had to carry keys, my pencil case, etc etc. School is costing a fortune but I figured I know I'll get good quality with a brand like Kipling that's been around for ages. It fits everything really well and has straps if you decide you want to use it like a traditional backpack. It's held up great through wheeling around pounds of books and being hit on stairs and corners. Good investment especially when your spine and muscles are at stake.

I bought this based on the good reputation of the Kipling brand. Imagine my shock when the plastic snap fastener broke the first time i used it! The monkey was quite annoying as well, getting in the way each time I tried to zip and unzip the main compartment. Cons: wheels are very difficult to maneuver; the side pockets add to the difficulty since they make it wider and kept hitting objects and people; it is VERY heavy even when empty. I had purchased this intending to use it daily to relieve my shoulder from the weight of a laptop and documents. Unfortunately, it is too heavy with or without contents to lug up and down subway stairs, not to mention annoying people who get sideswiped by the monster on wheels.
