Being in my late 40s and having always played PC games, my other half Bought me a PS4 Pro for my last Birthday, I really struggled on FPS , One game I tried to play and gave up on was Tom Clancy The Division, I was looking at some more expensive solutions like a Keyboard and Mouse Controller for the PS4 but these all were more than I wanted to pay, I thought I'd try these things. Seen some Youtube Videos and thought I'd give them a punt.
Glad I did, Aiming now feels a lot smoother and more precise. Not long had them and So far impressed.

These thumb grips address 2 rather annoying flaws with the Dualshock 4 controller: the first is the issue of the original rubber grips on the analogue sticks becoming worn and uncomfortable and the second is the stubby nature of the sticks. As for gameplay performance, the KontrolFreeks lend themselves well to First Person Shooters (Call of Duty, Battlefield). I wouldn't say they've turned me into an overnight pro but I get a lot less of the 'how-on-earth-did-I-miss-that' moments. This is because the right stick is slightly taller and allows for more movement and control. Durability is definitely not an issue here as I have spent hours using them and there is not even a hint of wear.
Compared to cheaper alternatives such as the KELUX thumb grips, these are far superior as the KELUX drag against the controller when turning the stick which hinders movement and is very uncomfortable. On the other hand, the KontrolFreeks clip on to the analogue stick with small but sturdy plastic hooks.
The only reason there is a star missing in my rating is because, despite the high quality of the KontrolFreeks, they are ultimately two small pieces of rubber on plastic and it is hard to justify spending £13 on them (in my case), especially considering the already hefty price of the Dualshock 4 controller itself.
In summary, I would definitely recommend this product to keen fans of First Person Shooters and fast paced action games, however, considering the price, not so much for those who are likely to only play these games a few hours a week.
Although the somewhat average rating I have given these, I do like these a lot. I bought them primarily to extend the life of the controller and make it more comfortable in the hand, and they have served their purpose.
One problem however is with the left stick. The soft rubber has started to come away from the hard rubber, due to extensive use of sprinting in games. Not what I expected after 7 months of use, especially seeing as they are very expensive for what they are (in my opinion).
The other problem is that the left stick is concave, I think it should be convex like the right one. Because of the shape, when you sprint forwards, your thumb comes to rest on the edge of the stick, and it becomes a little uncomfortable, and feels like your thumb might fall of the stick. I don't think I would have this problem if it was a convex shape.
In regards to accuracy, I do think they give you more control, althought sometimes its good to play with the settings in the game as well - make the right hand stick a little more sensitive to account for the longer length of it.
But saying that, all in all, I do like these grips and will continue to use them, and will probably buy more when the left stick does eventually give out. Maybe I will try one the other versions.
was skeptical about these but they actually are really good, i found they did allow greater control at higher sensitivity. Feel a bit weird at 1st to have the sticks so much higher than standard but get used to them pretty quickly. Was pretty gutted that the dog got hold of one and chewed it up....feel this is my dogs fault though, cant blame kontrolfreaks for this ;)
For me they were great. They looked amazing. They didn't help me in COD IW. But they were comfortable and you could play hours without your thumb slipping or being sore. I don't think they were good enough to cost that much. Overall, get it if your a gamer that plays hours of first person shooters you should get them but if you don't play much don't buy them, there not worth the price.
