the real deal

I know a few things about Kundalini, having suffered from kundalini syndrome for 17 years and having also co-authored a book on energy healing. SantataGamana is the real deal, and he has a deep understanding of kundalini and is able to take a complex topic and boil it down to its essence. I have practiced what he teaches and while his methods are powerful (esp the Kriya techniques) and generate a LOT of kundalini, I've suffered none of the effects of kundalini syndrome. As an aside, what helped me to finally cure my kundalini syndrome was doing the TRE's (tension release exercises described by Dr. David Berceli).

Kundalini Exposed is worth a great deal more to me than my time and money. I do not have a teacher I can find, and working through the awakening process in daily life is often difficult with isolation, confusion, trial and error. The book to me is like a shop manual for the car mechanic, the basic principles of the process are there, some how to, but then you still have to know how to be a mechanic, know how tight is tight, and have your wrenches in hand. You are under the car looking up.
The words ring true and clear to my level of experience of energy and awareness so far, and gave me some clear to me next steps, kind of like I am sitting in a trail camp hearing from another hiker about what is over there if you keep going, and avoid the cliff over there, jump off the cliff over there.
The straightforward compassionate format illuminates so much of my path that I have not been able to move on from because I am trying to map it out and stay in it more than move along and let it go. Like the author points out, you do not need to bring the taxi onto the plane when traveling. Even writing this review is a kind of over mapping, so forgive the effort, because Kundalini Exposed shows much to me that eliminates my distraction of desiring understanding. Thank you to the author, it feels wonderful to know you are.

The wisdom of India finally made clear for everyone

I like this book very much. It avoids talk that is very hard to understand. It avoids rubbish, filler talk. It explains simply and clearly what tasks a person might choose to do. These tasks are described in an approachable way. You could do them without consulting 1000 other books, too. It explains what could go wrong, and how to do them safely. It isn't so difficult to be safe in doing these things. As importantly, it explains what the final goal is. People call the goal "enlightenment," but, being unenlightened, we don't necessarily know what that would be like. This says clearly when NOT to stop. It tells which steps might be more difficult. But it is a clear and understandable path to a worthwhile goal. It is worth more than the rest of my yoga books (although some of them are good and can still be useful). It is important to read the book with a kind of attuned and even sympathetic attention to understand more deeply. It is important to practice, not just to read.

Not a professional book on Kundalini

I am a practicing yogin of 25 years, practicing a prescribed tantric yoga sadhana daily, comprising of what you could call a hybrid of Hatha, Kriya, and Laya yogas, the Kriya Yoga being from the Sarasvati lineage. The title of this book prompted my curiosity, since the Kundalini is ever exposed in print, with succinct texts on Her function being readily available if one looks earnestly. Although this book does contain some accuracies, I found it full of exaggerations, difficult to put into context when dealing with consciousness and such topics, and definite errors, especially about exercise techniques. I could literally write a book about where this guy is wrong on exercise description, wrong on approaching Kundalini philosophically as well as pragmatically. So, what I will do is list these factors in a pro or con list.
The Pros:
He describes Kundalini as something to approach or consider awakening. This is good-there are many false narratives out there pushing people away from the Kundalini. The Kundalini is the source of our finite consciousness-awakening Her is essential for realization of the Absolute.
He points to yoga as the means to approach Kundalini awakening-this is good as well-there are too many narratives out there trying to pull people away from yogically approaching Kundalini. This is stupid. The higher yogas came from Kundalini awakened beings, and basically yogic knowledge came from Her. This is scripturally based.
The author makes exclamations about about the glories of enlightenment and God realization overall-this is good, as few are aware of this potentiality.
Now, for the cons:
His philosophic designations about Being, The Absolute, Consciousness, and related themes are not exclaimed in a linear manner, and even with myself being able to access samadhi at will, were confusing to me as I read the book. I have a vast library of Vedic, Tantric, and Yogic texts, as well as some of my own works. This book would not rate going into my collection.
He describes awakening the Kundalini with a frivolity that is not practical or realistic. He seems to think She is like water in the ground-drill a hole and up She comes. This is absurd. Seeking to awaken the Kundalini should be approached with extreme respect, and with an attitude of sacrificial offering. As She is the author of your very personality and living experience of consciousness-She is God within and is totally aware of your intentions, as She is their very source. Therefore, your sadhana should be done with the attitude of giving ones finite self to Her in the yogic process.
His description of how to do perform Uddiyana Bandha is 100% incorrect. He describes the performance of this technique as follows: "You take a deep breath (inhalation) and then contract the bandha". This is wrong. Uddiyana bandha cannot be done with any effectiveness at all with any air in your lungs. This object of the movement is to suck your collapsed diaphragm into your thoracic cavity-your ribcage. This cannot be accomplished if you have air in the lungs. Look up "Uddiyana Bandha" in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, a twelve hundred year old book and source of Hatha Yoga.
He also says that Kriya Supreme Fire, is the best and primary way to awaken the Kundalini. This is factually wrong as well. In places he limitedly mentions "sadhana". This word designates what could be termed a "yoga routine", which should consist of a myriad of techniques, that are performed as a unit in order to produce a synchronization of effect on the body and mind. You start with the well known "asanas", the body positions every thinks is total yoga, these positions are to awaken the cakras, then you add the bandhas, mudras, and pranayama, Nadi Shodana especially(alternate nostril pranayama). In fact, Nadi Shadhana Pranayama is considered the primary means to affect Kundalini. Without its mastery, the other methods would be largely ineffective. He makes no mention of this.
And last but not least, he makes no mention of how to perfect, Dhyana (meditation), which must be accomplished in order to center into the Sahasrara any extreme effects, if there are any.
I could go on and on.
As a workable text on Kundalini, I give this book an "F". Yes, there are Kundalini facts here, but they are arrayed haphazardly in his philosophic purview throughout the book, which were presented with a definite lack of clarity.
For those of you who want real scriptural details and facts about how to approach the Divine Mother Kundalini, I suggest reading 'Kundalini Tantra" by Swami Satyananda . He founded the Yoga Bharati University, have actual textbooks they publish, some right here on Amazon. Namste

like always the bliss comes after the practice

I have practice and awaken the kundalini few times in my live, I don't think it was 100%, but in some degree. I am trying to get back to my practices and after reading several books about kundalini, this is the only book that I have found strait to the point and the one that describes real experiences, the way he describes them if the same as I have experienced them, like always the bliss comes after the practice, not in the moment, the one will all and looses of the I.
But from my point of view there is three selves, subconscious (Ego), Conscience (The I), SuperConscience (The ONE), The subconscious is where all the memories reside, and it has his own personality, The "I" is without memories, exist in the eternal now.
When we have a kundalini awakening experience we live a a state of bliss, I called an orgasm 24/7 like he mentions, you feel one with everything, the trees, the rock, I mean everything, you are ONE with all but I never lost my sense of individuality.
