You know that cute little back-and-forth walkabout your cockatiel does when he’s truly excited about a favorite food? Sunny Orchard Nutri-Berries, with its real pieces of apricots, dates and tangy cranberries mixed together with wholesome seeds and grains, has that affect on birds.
Sunny Orchard Nutri-Berries combine fresh ingredients, hulled seeds and essential vitamins and minerals rolled together to offer all the nutrition of pellets, plus all the benefits and fun of foraging. Instead of grinding down the ingredients into a pelleted form, the ingredients in Sunny Orchard Nutri-Berries are left mostly whole to give your bird the flavors and textures pelleted diets lack. And, unlike vitamin- and mineral-fortified seed mixes that lose their health benefits once the bird cracks open the seed, Nutri-Berries are made with hulled seeds and grains; each berry is then coated with essential vitamins and minerals to ensure that your bird receives balanced nutrition in each bite. Sunny Orchard Nutri-Berries also have 30% pellets.
We use chelated minerals for better absorption, stabilized vitamins for better longevity, and we naturally preserve and flavor our foods. You can offer Sunny Orchard Nutri-Berries as a main diet or as a favorite treat for your cockatiel, quaker parrot, lovebird or parakeet. Drop them in your bird’s bowl, or crumble them up and sprinkle them in your bird’s foraging area.
A family story dedicated to nutrition and health
Lafeber Company was founded by Dr. Lafeber Sr.’s desire to provide pet birds with a high-quality, nutritiously-balanced diet.
As he treated hundreds of pet birds over a period of years, a common problem kept appearing: most birds were dying of malnutrition. To save these birds that he cared for so much, he created the first commercial bird food pellet in his veterinary clinic in the early 1970s. His son, Dr. Ted Lafeber, III, joined as his business partner and develops our recipes today with top veterinarians and nutritionists.
Our mission to this day revolves around the simple premise Dr. Lafeber established many years ago: caring & working for the health of animals.
As a family company, Lafeber is not only focused on excellent quality nutrition, but on giving back as well. With limited available information on proper care for exotic animals, Lafeber offers a completely free educational website to veterinarians. They provide financial opportunities for vet students around the world and support animal rescues and rehabilitation centers globally with food and monetary donations.
Nutritionally-complete food with human-grade ingredients
Each berrie is coated with essential vitamins and minerals to ensure that your bird receives balanced nutrition in each bite. A study done at UC Davis showed that Nutri-Berries provide the same nutrition as pellets.
