I’m a fan of O’Brien, but this is not his best book on memory techniques. While the information here is solid, there just isn’t enough of it and it doesn’t go into the kind of detail that most memory enthusiasts will want. For anyone who has read anything else on memory techniques, this will be a quick skim at best.
It is a beautifully designed and illustrated guide (and my edition was printed on heavier-than-usual paper to highlight the art/design), but sometimes it feels as if the text is taking a backseat to the graphics. And because this offers more of a tantalizing appetizer than a full meal, I’m not sure I can wholly recommend it. Readers who really want to learn about memory will immediately want something more; others won’t care in the first place.
