Directions:

I would like to start out by saying I have a pretty intense needle phobia. To the point where I avoid medical intervention at all costs. So of course on my personal bucket list I needed a tattoo, to prove to myself what a badass I was. That being said, I'm too old for pride and I researched over the counter topical creams for about three months. I listened to people's personal ideas on how it could affect the quality of the tattoo, so I waited to post this. I got my tattoo on May 1st 2017, and it is now July 20th 2017. I will include pictures of both.
I followed all of the directions that a fellow commentor posted. I showered, exfoliating the area (inside of left arm). Towel dryer, rubbed area with hand sanitizer. I then applied a dime size amount to the area, rubbing it in for a larger part than where the tattoo was. I then got another dime amount and layed it on the area. Next I had my sister help wrap my arm TIGHT in Saran Wrap, careful to not smear the concentrated blob too much.
I left the Saran Wrap on for about 45 minutes, until I got there. I wiped the excess off with a baby wipe. Wasn't sure if it worked. Ended up being about two hours before the needle even touched me. At this point, I was shaking and nauseous. Terrified it wasn't going to work, looking for an out, weighing the embarrassement of blowing chunks on the dude or passing out. I said to myself, you have come to far.
The needle touched, I didn't even know it. I said, "that's it?", the guy laughed. About 45 minutes later, still nothing. I felt a sensation on the very inside, by my armpit, but nothing even close to pain.
Time of application, 12:30pm. End of tattoo, about 3:15.

I initially got this for waxing, just in case it would work for that. It did numb my skin a slight bit. I only applied once and never covered or reapplied. It took about 30-40 min. When I tapped the area I'd numbed, with my finger, I felt less than when I tapped the area not numbed. When I waxed I felt zero difference. That's just me, though. Go with your flow.

Edit 8.22.17:
I get a really bad reaction to USA mosquito bites (I'm Norwegian and for me it was never that bad there) and they torment me for days. In desperation I tried this cream on the bites. For me it worked great. It numbed the itchiness and pain (yes, pain) either completely, or at least just enough so that I could exist in peace, and be able to sleep at night. I will make sure I always have this cream on hand from now on.

The picture I added was taken in Thailand, it shows about the same reaction I get to mosquitoes in the USA. They get big, hard, and they sometimes swell to become really huge.

I also once used this on a bruise my son got, and he said it helped.
