This “protector” does not protect the mattress at all. It is less than 9 months old and the first time it was peed on it went completely through.

That is where the positives end. When I first received this, I had doubts that it would resist liquids, so I poured water on it. It soaked into the top layer but did not let the liquid flow through to the mattress... cool!
But then I washed it after my cat’s first accident and now I have a urine stained mattress.
Worse, it spread the urine out over a larger surface.

I was originally worried about whether this will work or not based on previous reviews but I decide to get it anyway. I bought this back in February 2019, washed a few times in between. Flash forward to August 2019, my toddler was in her room playing then all I heard was silence. As any parent to toddler has experience sudden silence usually isn't a good sign. I walked in and she has poured juice all over her bed. I was ready to see the juice leak through onto the mattress. I was pleasantly surprised to see the mattress was completely untouched. I don't know if I'm doing something right, if I just caught it in time, or if other people are sadly getting a faulty product, but I'm happy to say that this mattress cover work as intended. Just in case my wash routine for this is always wash warm and tumble air only.
