About the Author

Emily Winfield Martin is the New York Times bestselling author of The Wonderful Things You Will Be. She makes paintings, books and other things. When she was small, she spent every moment drawing, reading, dressing rabbits in fancy clothes, and having many peculiar daydreams. When she grew up, she began to illustrate those daydreams and she created a cottage industry called The Black Apple, which sells all manner of her art and etceteras.

She works in a tiny nook of a studio filled with old children's books, wind-up toys, and stacks of fabric. She lives in Portland, Or.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable little book!
Reviewed in the United States on 30 December 2020
This is an adorable little book with some great illustrations, as expected from Emily Winfield Martin. It's not like her other books. This one has a story. A tiny family moves in to their new home, and they immediately set out to explore and meet all the little creatures in their area. They travel on the water, get caught in the storm, see fairies, and eat strawberries. They finally get lost, and an owl gives them a ride on its back to take them back home, where all their new friends meet them. I can see how some would think the story is a little disjointed, but the point is that they're wandering aimlessly and don't know what they will experience. Sorry if the pictures don't look great, my toddler was trying to use the book as a table for her toys as I was taking them.
