About the Author
Emily Winfield Martin is the New York Times bestselling author of The Wonderful Things You Will Be. She makes paintings, books and other things. When she was small, she spent every moment drawing, reading, dressing rabbits in fancy clothes, and having many peculiar daydreams. When she grew up, she began to illustrate those daydreams and she created a cottage industry called The Black Apple, which sells all manner of her art and etceteras. She works in a tiny nook of a studio filled with old children's books, wind-up toys, and stacks of fabric. She lives in Portland, Or. You can visit her at www.emilywinfieldmartin.com

Odd book.

Delivered quickly. Brand new condition. I like this Author, but the writing in this book is inconsistent with her other publications I own, The Wonderful Things You Will Be and Dream Animals. It lacks storyline or purpose. Strange to read.

Adorable little book!

This is an adorable little book with some great illustrations, as expected from Emily Winfield Martin. It's not like her other books. This one has a story. A tiny family moves in to their new home, and they immediately set out to explore and meet all the little creatures in their area. They travel on the water, get caught in the storm, see fairies, and eat strawberries. They finally get lost, and an owl gives them a ride on its back to take them back home, where all their new friends meet them. I can see how some would think the story is a little disjointed, but the point is that they're wandering aimlessly and don't know what they will experience. Sorry if the pictures don't look great, my toddler was trying to use the book as a table for her toys as I was taking them.

My 2 year old daughter and I absolutely love her books! Beautiful illustrations and a wonderful story about a tiny family exploring their new home. Very whimsical like her other books and if you haven't read those yet, I highly recommend them!

Beautiful, but not for infants

This book is a bit more text-heavy than other board books in our library, and it can be overwhelming for my 4 month old. The illustrations are a bit too complex for little eyes, and it's difficult to isolate things to elaborate on. I can see this book being more appropriate for 2-4 year olds.
The story is very sweet, and the illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. I look forward to enjoying this book for many years!

Weird story!

We love dream animals and day dreamers by Emily but this one falls short. It’s a weird story with not much flow and sort of feels like she drew a bunch of pictures and then forced a story to make them go together. Would return but it was on sale for $5.50 so not worth it.
