I Returned IT. Bad Drivers & More
19 January 2021 -
Published on Amazon.comVerified Purchase
I purchased 4 of these over priced monstrosities. The first package I opened was missing the support rod. Another reviewer mentioned that the card they received was previously opened. This may have been why the rod was missing as I don't blame the sellers for recording serial numbers. Regardless, I went into a Super Saiyan rage instantly after paying double MSRP ($1,399.99) and was blasted straight to the return universe.
Opened the second card and didn't appear that the card or package was tampered with. It may be worth mentioning that the silaphyne wrap appeared botched or like someone opened it and tried to reseal it with Reynolds wrap and a blow dryer. Certainly not professional packaging by anymeans of the imagination. The card was solid, has metal back plate with the MSI logo lighting up and what appears to be well made with a two-tone silver-ish tint.
Finally installed it and guess what? Continous crashes after updating the driver. Hours of research with no real solution. Found a video explaining how some people got it stable by lowering the voltage in MSI Afterburner. Nothing short of a nightmare to do while dealing
with constant screen flickers. It should be noted it's not a permanent fix either. The card is very power hungry with 230w at idle. The Suprem X model does stay cooler and has a much better build than the X Trio. At least before it crashes anyway.
Nvidia and MSI support is more than worthless. Between the craptastic launch, unstable drivers, and Amazon allowing price gouging of GPU's when people went to jail for price scalping hand sanitizer and toilet paper, I'd strongly urge anyone to wait. With the current driver issues (01-18-2021) to be resolved and availability so the price madness ends I rate this card a 1 possible 2 stars out of 10. Save yourself the unwanted stress and money.
