On the palm rest adapter, with the 7 I used the extra (non-rubberized) one which I remember being the elevated one. I tried the stock one with the 8+ and thought it felt good, but I know I used the other one so tried that. The elevated one for the 8+ is much higher so I'm using the main one that came with it installed (not rubber and has the line through it). Guess I'm just saying the stock one for the 8+ matches the elevated one of the RAT7. I can see this extra elevated one for the 8+ being more useful to some.
The other difference I noticed was that the 8+ has 3 weights total and my 7 has all five installed. If you still have your older unit, keep them around for parts I guess. I set my DPI's up the same as the old and it still felt just a little off. Added 2 weights, right back to the feel again. That little stuff matters that much to some of us.
Right now, I like the RGB and I'm not a light dude at all and find it doesn't make hardware "gamer qualified", it's just lights. It's a mouse, your hand is on it, and really only need to see the DPI mode it's in at a glance. But, this stuff is fine and you can at least pick your colors or just turn it off. Kudos for that option for those that just HATE the new trend of RGB.
A weird fault I'm having from the installation is that the settings link isn't installed correctly into Windows 10 Pro 64. I mean, they are placed onto your computer but you can't search for them and they're not in the Start list. The link it places on your desktop, with no option not to place it in the new lineup, is the way to get to all the good stuff. You "can" pin it to the start but I don't need that on there. It's more Win10 and not Madcatz...but it should install as a program.
Buy this, it's cool and I'm happy with it. When you get it, try 16,000 dpi mode... "what the, no one needs...ohhhh...Korea and Star Craft? No clue. It's too much for FPS and could be perfect for 6 screens I have no clue about.
Gamdias Zeus (for 2 days. Hated it lol)
Logitech g502 (1st version)
-cons or my personal nitpicks
The cord is gonna take a while to break in, it drags a bit as of my first day of owning it (recommend a mouse cord bungee if this bothers you)
The mouse feet could be better it feels like, but I'm sure i just need to break them in.
Definitely recommend this mouse if you don't know what to choose for your grip type/hand size
When you read this review and others, you'll pick up a few interesting points: the people writing the early reviews really care about mice, and they really miss the R.A.T. 7. The 7 was a legendary device, which was also incredibly fragile/short-lived/UNRELIABLE. And pricey. My last RAT7 finally died. I was _thrilled_ to see this intermittently-bankrupt company has apparently resurrected. While the 7 is apparently gone forever, but this 8+ seems every bit as good, and hopefully better. I don't care about the disco lighting, wireless is for newbie/pansies, I just care about ergonomics, performance, and reliability. This seems like a good mouse. If it lasts more than a few months, it'll be great. We'll see.
